Arsenal have made a formal approach to sign Greek left winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 24-year-old initially struggled to make an impact during his time with Norwich City before rediscovering his form at Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf.
At Düsseldorf, Tzolis delivered an outstanding 34 goal contributions across 37 appearances, earning him a permanent move to Belgium in the summer of 2024.
Since joining Club Brugge, the Greek international has become one of the most productive attackers in both the Belgian Pro League and across Europe.
Tzolis has registered an impressive 88 goal contributions in just 108 matches for the Belgian champions, cementing his reputation as one of the continent’s most dangerous wingers.
He proved instrumental as Brugge clinched their 20th Jupiler Pro League title, contributing 22 goal involvements in the league alone and reaching a personal best of 51 across all competitions throughout the campaign.
Arsenal have now made contact with Tzolis’s representatives to discuss a potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium this summer, Romano reports.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reveals there is optimism that Arsenal could secure a deal for the winger for around £34.5m, with his potential addition not expected to affect the club’s interest in other targets.
Reports from May via Football Talk indicated that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all battling to sign Tzolis, but the Premier League winners now appear to have stolen a march on their rivals.
Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola remain Arsenal’s top targets, though Tzolis is viewed as a strong option to strengthen the left flank.
With both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli facing uncertain futures, the North Londoners could target up to two left-wingers this summer to address the position.
Tzolis has netted at least 20 goals in each of his last three seasons, leading to a strong belief he can provide consistent attacking output to complement Bukayo Saka’s threat from the right.
In a notable boost for Arsenal, Tzolis is represented by the same agency as manager Mikel Arteta, THE.TEAM, a relationship the club will hope to use as an advantage in accelerating negotiations.
