Before we get stuck into a few hopefully well drawn thoughts on the game it would be criminal of me not to draw your attention to Blackburn’s ace in the hole.

Technically it’s sod all to do with Blackburn really, but @TheBigSam would be worth the price of admission alone if Twitter charged.

So, nonsense out the way for a nanosecond, let’s ave a look at this weekend’s slags. In the form stakes, the real Big Sam’s mob are a cigarette paper away from us. League positioning confirms this with Blackburn being only one point behind us and goal difference the reason why.

So we have enough players on the sick list to form their own team. Will this prevent the booing and groaning if all does not go according to plan? I think not.

Predictions? I still fancy us to win. Despite everything I expect us to win. An unedifying 1-0 is 11/2 -ish. For depressive money earners us to lead at half time, lose full time is about 33/1 for those seeking to find it.

at least we are back in the plus goal difference just,it really should be better,i’ve just about got over our battering at bolton :pinch:

In a way, I’m glad that we didn’t streamroll this game to nil.

With the important games that you mention coming up, and still being behind Bolton on goal difference – that’s only going to help us realise that we still need to up our game.

No place for complacency, as we’ve learned again today.

im not sure what happened today or other games where we leak goals has to do with complacency,i think its the fact that since wilson and daws have gone missing for their own reasons,we have a very soft centre and teams are realising it and having ago.

          Complacency.

It’s an easy trap to fall into. We typically suffer from it, even just a little bit, after things go our way. After the 9-1 against Wigan last year, after the Inter 3-1, after going 4-0 up today.

We kept them at bay for a long time and defended really well so why did we concede the goals? Was it down to them suddenly playing much better or us getting comfortable and thinking that the gap was unsurmountable?

No clean sheet annoyingly, but some of our best football. The usual suspects in the middle, VDV and Modric were good, and Bale was his usual amazing self but add to those Jenas and Pav who were instrumental in some of those moves. Obviously Pav had a bit of a shocker elsewhere but his goals to games ratio is still better than anyone elses.

    Where Wenger whinges we murder.

    Olympic legacy offer.

Tottenham’s proposal, backed by US entertainment giants AEG, who own and operate the O2, is effectively a hedge against the rising costs of their existing new stadium development in Haringey.

The athletics legacy is also uncertain as they plan to rip out the running track entirely and possibly rebuild a new stadium from scratch on the site.

With costs in Haringey rising by £50m that may still cheaper than proceeding in Haringey.

Spurs say they are committed to helping establish an athletics legacy elsewhere, but it is thought that they have had no contact with UKA about their proposals, which are likely to fall short of the West Ham offer.

In a sign that Tottenham’s threat to leave Haringey is gaining leverage, yesterday the council announced they would try to keep Spurs in the borough by offering to approve compulsory purchase orders necessary to the Northumberland Park development.

Margaret Ford, chairwoman of the Olympic Park Legacy Company, said: “We are very pleased with the extensive and serious interest shown in the stadium. We started this process to ensure the very best legacy for the stadium, and we are now at a point where we have selected the two strongest bids.

“We will go forward to start negotiations with the two consortia of Tottenham Hotspur and AEG, and West Ham United and Newham Council. The stadium is a vital and vibrant component of the Olympic Park – securing the most appropriate and viable solution is crucial for our long-term aspirations for the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park area.”

Haringey Council Leader, Cllr Claire Kober, said: “We recognise the importance of keeping Spurs’ rich heritage, history and future here in Haringey where it belongs, and the council is working hard to support Spurs with their proposals for the new stadium in Tottenham.

“We know that this multi-million pound scheme will have far-reaching benefits, not just for everyone who lives and works in this very deprived part of Tottenham, but also for London as a whole.”

A CPO would allow the plans — which were unanimously agreed by Haringey Council’s planning committee — to progress.

    Hedge:

An act or means of preventing complete loss of a bet, an argument, an investment, or the like, with a partially counterbalancing or qualifying one.

To avoid a rigid commitment by qualifying or modifying a position so as to permit withdrawal.
