Bolton Autopsy

As Wazza Rooney off to a luxury stateside boot camp for conditioning it raises the question if Levy could get a group rate.

Alternatively, Spur players might want to give blogs and websites a go. It was difficult to find a single online piece that didn’t suggest they routinely taking their foot off the gas after a stellar performance and Bolton might well – at home and in good form – be up for doing ’em.

The game looked evenly balanced for a bit but that was a period of false remission. Turned out Bolton just needed a while to warm up.

Here’s some player ratings then.

Gomes As good as the back four in front of him. So shakey then. 4

Begbie Listless and hungover looking until he scored. Whodathunkit? 6

Gallas Got nothing right yesterday. Got much wrong. Bad signing. 3

Kaboul Back to being a trainee carthorse. 4

A&E Flashes of mediocrity unforgivably stupid penalty. 3

Sandro Off the pace is about as kind as I feel like being. 5

Palacios Hasn’t been the same since the funeral. 5

Huddlestone His fouls are becoming ‘anti football’ maybe he needs to be sold to Stoke. 5

Modders Contributed less and less as time went on. Depressing. 5

Krankie Rusty? Dusty? Not a fine performance. 5

Bentley Couple of good runs. Perhaps ought to have started. 6

Bale They double up’d on him, he still hit the post. His value sank to £49M. 7

3MP All the grace and usefulness of an ironing board collapsing. 4

Pav Came on and scored a goal that in any other game would have been historic. 7

Quite frankly our preparation for the combined CL and PL involvement this season has been simply appalling. We should have sorted out our defensive CB cover in the summer as it was very likely Dawson would get injured at some time and with King and Woodgate out of action more than in how did we plan to get any stability at the back. We also knew that we needed to improve our attack and with Defoe out and Pav in and out the side who was going to score our goals. This season we have relied to much on our midfield to score instead of that being a bonus as it should be.. the question I find fascinating is exactly what the hell was Harrys plan for this season… because VDV was not planned for it was a knee jerk at the eleventh hour and thank god we got him.. but take him out and that leaves us with Gallas on a free… that to my mind is not the planning of a manager or board who have any real desire to compete and remain in the CL.. rather a lets just have a go this season in the CL and take the money but expect not to be in it next season approach… and that is what I am feeling at the moment…

We needed a top CB and a top striker in the window. we got neither.

Luck smiled on Levy when the Raf was gifted to us unexpectedly but ultimately we missed a golden chance to lay down the foundation.

Lo and behold we are screaming out for goals up top and stability at the back.

    We all saw it coming.

Combined with ‘we have made it’ mentality pervading the players it adds up to a shit start the season. If we had started as we had finished last season we would be top 2 now.

The next 2 games are must wins. At home against 2 mediocre teams who both have poor away records we must perform and no excuses ( Crickey I have said that a few times over the years). Yes we will be without Defoe, Daws, King, Lennon, and possibly Van der Vaart but we really should have enough to win both. I am not one to criticise Harry, as I remember the good old days with people like Terry Neill and Christian Gross at the helm of the good ship Spurs but I could not understand why we did not play Bentley on the right and Krankie in behind the lone striker at Bolton. At least we would have been better balanced and both players in their best postions. Also either or Sandro/Palacios not both, in the middle with Modric. Having said that Harry sees them all train and he MUST be seeing things that end up with the starting line up he picked.Fully appreciate that we have to rotate but we looked what we were on Saturday and that was a cobbled together team.

MUST clear out the dead wood in Jan, we all know who they are but I guess it is very difficult to find buyers especially as….`Moneys too tight to mention!`

    TEAM V Sunderland

    Gomes

    Hutton Kaboooooooom Bassongers AnE

    Bentley Hundredstone ModFather WonderBoy

    Hopefully VDV
    if NOT Krankie

    SuperPav

On selecting that team I just got to dreaming about how many goals Greavsie or Lineker or Klinsmann or Archibald would scored with that creativity in midfield. Food for thought indeed and obviously as we all have said for ages we need 2 top quality forwards ASAP to join Defoe and Pav. Out with PSB and 3MP in with Suarez from Ajax and Benzema from Madrid please.

jerad speaks sense, as long as crouch is at spurs we are fcuked, redchumps stubborness in playing him cost us many points last seson , and hes doing it again, how crouch plays professional football is beyond fathoming, he cant shoot, head the ball in the right direction, and his “assists” are usually a fluke, pav plays and pav scores, i think redchump may have taken us as far as he can go, if crouch is his plan A, omfg

Can’t say I agreed with shnapps line up either, but not gonna panic just yet. Once we have defoe back (less than two weeks Now) that will be the end of Crouch starting week in week out. I can see harry looking on him as our Clive Allen, building one hell of a midfield to support.
We’ve been unlucky losing Dawson and Jd, few injuries to midfield and we been fooked. Still too early to panic and Im sure we’ll address things come Jan. We’ve not even been on a run yet and are still in touching distance. Lose your top scorer and captain, thongs are gonna be difficult for a while. I can still see us finishing 4th, long way to go and you can guarantee we’ll win a few games we’re meant to lose too…

    This thought keeps me going;

    Gnomes

shackon, knees all trembley , Early, Asswho

    Azza, modfather, Scud, Frank

    Vdf
    Defud.

Now that’s what Im looking forward to, better than opel fruits! !
