Great old line from Yes Minister when Jim Hacker says,‘ One minute you’re out out of your office, the next you’re out of office.’

Arry is an old cove and will be secretly smiling at how his fortunes against Arsenal went from being furiously despised at half time to being the Second Coming just forty five minutes later.

Whatever took place in the Arsenal away dressing room at half time, the latent talent in just about every player was unlocked and our lot came out and did ’em.

I haven’t watched Arsenal for a while and I have to say that I can fully understand now how they dominate the wrong end of the Fair Play League. The second goal was due to am imbecilic handball. They need to wise up and fast.

Look, I’m no more obsessed with these things than you, but it’s bad form to espouse all this ‘technically gifted’ rubbish if by the same token you are indulging in cheap fouls and play acting like that mong spaz cad Nasri.

Anyway, feck ’em. As they head to the Batmobile, we’re off to the ratings!

Gomes 7 Redeemed himself as (did many) in the second half.

A&E 5 Like weather. Dull with wet patches.

Gallarse 9 He was on a mission. Mission accomplished.

Raging Kaboul 7 Intelligent goals from a much improving chap. Well done, mate.

Begbie 4.5 I’d like to flog him. And then, sell ‘im. In that order.

Azza Blud  5.5 Back to square one again. Meh.

Jenarse 7 Another focused performance. More please.

Modders 6.75 Blossomed a little as our shape changed.

Bale, Bale, Bale 7.35 Great players change matches and define seasons.

VDV 7.36 Oozed class once the system/shaped changed.

Crazypavinchenko 6 Didn’t get into it really. But terribly nice hair.

Defoe 6.28 A one man feel good factor. Welcome home son.

3MP 6.29 Disrupted a wonky back four.

The Sarge 6.27 A credit in the time that he had.

The theme, of this season seems to be, poor start with lack of concentration. To good finish (second half) full of purpose. ‘Arry should have his half time team talk, before we kick off.

Considering hutton had the invisible man in front of him first half and then no one really second half I thought he did ok. Plus he still managed to get forward. Cant see him being replaced in the line up too soon. Possibly should have had ratings for both halves. Jenas and Modric first half 3.25 each, second half 6.5 each. Was great to see Defoe back, stretched the game which helped us play second half. Hope he stays fit, we are a diff team with him in the team.

Defoe made the difference. He is a top class. A world away from our other strikers.

I thought j**as had a good game. He shielded the ball and did not lose possession. Never made a pass with any vision but he kept it simple enough. Everyone played their part, some had more to do than others but we won the game fair and square. The gooners have nothing to moan about. It was their strongest team out there and we beat them, simple as that. There was no flabagash solo goal or slick possession passing turned into goals. We stopped them somehow from doing what they do. I also think they’re looking at us before the game thinking; ‘hang on, these guys have beaten inter milan – vdv and bale look dangerous’ we’re starting to turn that corner now me thinks folks. Bale is refreshingly consistent and vdv has found his home. Furthermore, everyone looks to be enjoying their life at spurs and winning with the club seems to mean everything to them. Team spirit is what we have needed so badly for so long…

I should have skipped over this post. Everybody is rating JJ over Modders? A 7.0? Are you f’n kidding me? JJ didn’t have a single forward pass connect to a teammate the entire match. Zero. Total. He also had ZERO tackles and never even got close to Fabregas.

It was the worst performance by any player in a Spurs jersey all season. Just about every time JJ passed, it was a back pass to a pressured defender who had to kick the ball away to an Arse player.

On the other hand, we would have been destroyed if it were not for Modders. Luka was double and triple teamed in the middle (because Wenger knows JJ well), yet he managed to dance around in the little gaps of space open in the middle, finding passing lanes to launch our wingers and jump start our attack.

Luka’s ability to shake tackles and dribble into space is almost magical. That he did this consistently against one of the highest pressure teams in the world demonstrates the level of his class. He is becoming legendary, and you are missing it. It’s really a shame – you seem to prefer watching a guy run around the pitch chasing his tail and doing absolutely nothing short of kicking the ball to the opposing team.

Mate, it was the most wasteful I’ve ever seen mods. Gave it away cheaply. As for Jenas not tackling, watch the last 20m again and look at the shift he puts in. He was, and I don’t say this lightly, the embodiment of our 2nd half attitude.

      • MysteriousStranger says:

I agree with you Rio. Modders was (and has been in recent weeks) particularly careless with the ball.

Let’s face it, Jenas played well in the 2nd half. And better than Modders did in the match as a whole. Gulp.
