Artful Arry’s slip highlighted it has to said by Matt Butler in the Belfast Telegraph is a corker. Here’s the quote in full. It may be entirely innocent of course.

I hear grumbles from some on Sir David’s signing. Chuntering about the ‘Beckham Circus’.
If by this you mean having to suffer an initial day or two of him and – the ironing board with a pair of cupcakes strategically nailed onto it that is – his wife being photographed arriving at The Lane; photographed standing on the grass, photographed ‘joshing’ with Arry …then so what?
The reality is that this guy – love him or hate him – is so good for business it hurts. Overnight we become a global brand. Within days, some kid be he in Knaresborough or be he in Nepal will say to his dad, ‘I want a Spurs shirt with Beckham on.’
As the Spurs go marching in to Europe; to a new stadium and new dawn …I’m just nipping down to the newsagents to put a card in the window. ‘New Recruits Welcome’.
There will be those who want to get embroiled in a debate about where he plays. Who cares? Hack the head off so the crowd can see him and whack him in the Chirpy suit. Get the cad selling bagels on the concourse. But get him in. Stand on me.

I hope this is a joke. He is 5 years past his sell buy date and is only interested in promoting team Beckham and trying to extend an England career which should have ended years ago.
Part of the reason we are doing so well is due to the fantastic team spirit where all players appear to think they are equal and are fighting for each other. Will this continue with Hollywood joining us ?
What message does this send to Niko, Bentley, Sandro, 3 players who can barely make the bench due to the huge squad we have already.
I also remember a previous England campaign where Lennon went as first choice England RM but the press campaign for Beckham to replace him eventually suceeded and Lennons form was poor for months afterwards as his confidence appeared to be shot.
We are at our best when playing at pace, something which Beckham will not assist as he cannot run and needs 4 touches of the ball before passing it.
If it is a marketing ploy then fine but please keep him well away from the pitch.

This is almost an irrelevance. I am sure he could put in a decent cameo or two and his influence on Azza, Baler and Rosey could be useful but the big player we need right now is a prolific striker who can do the biz straight away.
Exactamundo, Rodney. If this is the loan signing instead of the top top striker, it’ll be a disaster.
It concerrns me that we might be surrendering one of our 25 squad places for a guy who would be leaving 2 months before the end of season and can’t be replaced?
