Whilst randomly pressing buttons on the Barclays Premiership Fantasy Football website …it became evident that there was some almost interesting information there.
In the absence of a formal census, the figures you can pull out give a snapshot of support levels across the top flight teams. Now obviously this isn’t exactly the word of God. But it is the word of over 2 million people who when asked told the site who they supported.
The limitations are obvious. They don’t include the fans who don’t play this particular fantasy game nor those fans who’s support is undying, but they are too thick/impoverished/generally disinterested in the Internet.

Chavs more support? A joke right?
I remember when the Evening Standard done a study on who was the biggest supported club in London and Chavski came top. Now, this study also looked at the size of stadium and season ticket waiting list and ARSenal had the biggest ground and longest waiting list, Spurs had smallest stadium but second biggest waiting list. Well, Chavski being the “best supported” would have a big waiting list wouldn’t you think? Well, guess what? they don’t have a single person waiting!!
Their fans have come around over the last ten years and will disappear when the trophies start drying up. Cnuts!
This should evoke a nice amount of “you’re not a big club, my dad’s bigger than your dad” comment from the under 12’s.
Does my club look big in this?
how many of the bin dipper fans are actually stolen? bring on the becks!
Sounds a lot of nonsense – as if Blackpool have more fans than Stoke!
A more reliable measure is the average attendances per the official site and we’ve got the 10th biggest average at the moment.
My dad’s bigger than your club
