Locker Room Gossip

Evenin’.

An interesting snippet or two has came my way and so here is what I have. The Alan ‘Generalissimo Franco Begbie’ Hutton rumours doing the rounds of late have not only been libelous in nature but inaccurate.

I’m told that the absence of the Scottish supremo has been down to an almighty bust up between himself and Redschnapps. Over what, or why I don’t know. But my understanding is that the player isn’t injured.

The second is probably just a case of natural frustration but there was friction aplenty amongst our glorious strike force that went to Blackpool. What began at half time as bickering got worse as the players  hit the Bloomfield Road dressing rooms at full time. Pav was sick of hearing Defoe’s niggles and couldn’t get away from him fast enough.

    dubai…no worries, it’s kosher here :~

Internet whispers have Begbie in re-hab.

quite the opposite I’d suggest MS. Arry is the boss and if he thinks Hutton needed a bollocking then he’s the man to give it. If Hutton cant take it amongst his peers then his clangers arent big enough.

VDV has said the dressing room is top notch; whilst I quite like Hutton as a player I would rather he got isolated out to retain the spirit

Whilst a football team dressing room and your typical office/blue collar workplaces are vastly different, being singled out for criticism in front of all your colleagues would not be accepted in most circumstances in the latter. I walked out of a job in the real world after receiving a similarly public criticism (unfairly levelled).

They were the ones who came back with their tails between their legs begging for me to return in that instance. And I told them to do one.

And considering the upshot of this confrontation would seem to be we had no right back against Blackpool, I’ll question it. He’s publicly dressed down Bent, Bentley, to name but two others.

Considering Van Der Vaart only earlier in the week was heaping praise on Hutton for “being a fantastic player”, and from other suggestions doing the rounds, you may yet find Harry is actually losing the dressing room. It certainly it doesn’t sound to me like VdV wants Hutton isolating to protect team spirit here, does it?

Harry’s refusal to play Pav, Bent, to play Bentley, and now he’s clashed with Hutton? Keeps playing his favourites? He’s reached his level. The England manager position will be perfect for him.

In case you missed my point, in your standard workplace, a dressing down/warning etc., is best given in private to maintain mutual respect levels in your employee/boss relationship.

we will have to agree to disagree then MS

I will concede it is a fine balancing act but one Arry has obviously got right most of the time. I dont recall VDV bigging up Hutton but will take your word for it. Even if he did his prowess is not really in question here. Daws has made probably more mistakes than Hutton but has improved and probably taken some shite at times…he is big enough to take it as constructive criticism.

From memory Hutton did fuck up; he made the wrong call by making that tackle (and he is prone to it) so perhaps he deserved the public airing. Your comparable situation is vastly different; you werent in the wrong

Blimey, not playing Pav, Bent, Bentley & Hutton? That Barsteward Redknapp has really been holding us back… You’re quite right Mysteriousness, get rid immediately!

          The overwhelming indications are he:

          a) Has his favourites. See Crouch.

          b) Loves to insult his players in public. See, Bent. See Bentley. See Pav. At least he managed to only upset Hutton in front of his colleagues/team mates, whatever. That arm around the shoulder approach goes missing when it suits him it seems.

I also simply stated the facts, VdV was publicly in praise of Hutton less than a week ago, and that was after the Fulham game since when Begbie has disappeared from view. At no point did I say we should get rid immediately. ;-)

          Not in this exchange.

maybe being out of the cups will do us more favours than we first thought

The gooner game is weds and seeing as they have livershit the Sunday eve before at 4pm they will be sick of playing another good side

    In vain hope that all of the above are fit we should have a good run in;

    Thudd
    VDV
    Baler
    Woody
    King

    The futures bright?
