Good morning sports fans.

I feel I’m owed about 27 goals from these occasionally shiftless chancers and shall be having one of those more than 2.5 goal bets. This is probably about 5/2 and in event of it coming in I can then begrudge having to shell out so much to see a return and in the event of it not happening it will inspire unchecked anger.

There isn’t too much to say in advance of a fixture that we ought to win handsomely for so many reasons. J**** was in The Evening Standard with a piece to me that smacked of blow softening.

He reveals that we’ve not done well against rubbish clubs, that if you are involved in the Europa Cup you play on Thursdays and Sundays and that we haven’t won at Anfield since 1993. He’s like a crappiest Magic 8 Ball ever. But then at this stage in the proceedings the rehearsed speeches explaining failure are written, simply being fine tuned, eh?

So armed with this gems how will our intrepid contestants fare in this week’s Crystal Maze? Blackpool having nothing to lose. Nothing. There may be talk of abandoned fairy tales, there may be comparisons made with ‘wounded beasts’. I want a win and a convincing one. Blackpool are rubbish and that’s not our problem.

Part of me wishes I wasn’t backing a goal-fest, but was in on the big scam. A crack at the old ‘irregular betting’ one with Holloway taking all 3 points at 10/1. The one where the ‘Seasiders’ throw their buts and spades up in the air at full time. The one were we swerve the Europa and we concentrate on winning a domestic pot and 4th spot next time around.

Some of the recent ‘no to the Europa League’comments , from within and without the club, remind me of a quote from Bunk Moreland in The Wire “Look how far we done fall..” – Bill Nick said something about “Spurs are nothing if we’re not in Europe” and as I have a God fearing respect for the man I have to believe that if we want to retain some vestage of what THFC stands for then he is RIGHT!! The EL for all its faults is still Europe, and gives a chance to keep the squad happy/balanced and provides a try out / opportunity for the fringe players we currently send out on loan. Message to Mr.Redknapp et al – stop moaning, get us as high as possible – do your fuckin job!

If we are too frail to sustain both a league challenge and a Europa cup run then we are too frail to do anything the CL either, after all, that competition has to be taken seriously.

As well as what has been said above, Europa generates some income, and also contributes to our UEFA ranking, which is valuable when seedings come into play should we qualify for the CL.

So better in than out I’d say. Plus we could even conceivably win it, and I would enjoy that.

got to agree in some respects.how many of us were praying for uefa cup football when we were finishing 10th 11th in the league?now suddenly we’re too good for it????im sure mr levy will be looking for as high a finish as poss especially at about 200k per place in the prem and a small EL run worth about £1-2m.money in the bin now rather than CL maybe next season

Absolutely. CL clubs that end up in the Europa wee all over it. ‘Till they come up against similar. If you can’t compete in it, you don’t deserve CL. Simples.

Nothing like a whole year of Europa League history to make that judgement.

Will be interesting to see if Braga uphold your theory, given that they (as the CL offcasts), are massive underdogs against Porto.

Unless you’re choosing to count “UEFA Cup” history in this statement, whilst failing to acknowledge our prior “European Cup” history in another post :freu

  • jerkinmahjurgen says:

We’ve a rich European history and it’s not been in the top competition… I can count with my willie how many times were in that. Talk about getting above your station. Rant definitely not over.

  • jerkinmahjurgen says:

I’m gonna watch our scouse friends soon and will be rooting for them. You never know… all this whinging may yet be irrelevant. :P

  • jerkinmahjurgen says:

Shame about Abbey. If she can’t trust the lanky sex beast to go out for a night she should do what the average Spurs fan would and get rid.
