Good evening and don’t shoot the messenger.
Rummaging through cyber dustbins can be a mixed bag alright. Never more so than today it seems. First the unsettling Modders quotes earlier and now from Niko Kranjcar’s agent Adrian Aliaj has told ForzaRoma.info in response to questions about Niko – and I quote…
I still have to confront with Tottenham, which has not yet decided whether to divest or not Niko. I guess it all depends on what will Modric, where the Spurs have received several offers and are considering selling it.Its future, however, depends on its society, which has a long contract, even though Niko wants to play with more continuity to avoid losing the national team
Even allowing for the translation glitches, this is straightforward enough. Nico wants to play aside from any other reasons to ensure his International spot. He’s happy enough with us but if Modders went that would effect his decision.
Modders’ contract is to 2016 and so any offers will of course have to be hefty. Look, it would have been beyond naive to think nobody was interested and this simply confirms that there is.

This was always on the cards after Redknapp failed to secure us a CL spot. This was screaming at us all January when he fannied about with Levy and despite all the additional CL revenues failed to address the issues that needed sorting.. had we shown any real desire to stay in the CL we would have been out of the trap on the 1st January … the fact that we didnt indicated to me that we were not that bothered about CL football next season and that we would struggle to hold onto the likes of Modric and Bale without it… so Levy signs modric and Bale on long term contracts to secure their futures at the club… or as is more likely to increase their sell on value at the end of the season …. after what Redknapp and Levy have said publicly to the supporters about not selling our best players but building a side if they do allow Modric or Bale to go then clearly the board will have sold the club and the supporters down the swanee … yet again.
well indeed….why would Levy/Redknapp be bothered about qualifying for the CL? with all that extra money it makes? all the extra prestige it gives the club? all those massive sponsors wanting to part withtheir money? with all those glamous european nights at some of Europes greatest clubs?
Why indeed would they have the best interets of the club/fans/business at heart and bother to look for a new striker, or whatever you think was necessary in January. I am sure that Levy probably went skiing or something instead of sourcing new players.
Get real legoverlass. This aint championship manager, securing new players, especially in january is a very difficult process, not to mention expensive when looking for real quality!
Spot on
Hmmm..not sure if Manu is soon to be a dynasty in decline.
They sure wont be winning any European cups soon with Barcelona looking like they will dominate European football for quite sometime.
Fergie will have left by then and he will be simply irriplaceable.
So my conjecture is that Manu may not be the preferred destination or the right club.
In all honesty apart from his lack of scoring (which he needs to improve if he is to be a GREAT) I could see him playing for Barcelona, technically hes better than Fabregas and has a bigger engine.
Barca could be the one then that Spurs would consider…I think selling him to Manu would be a terrible mistake for him and Tottenham.
irreplaceable..ooopps
Heres a quote from Modric via Sky
“But of course, if there will be an offer which will be good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is of course possible”
Sounds to me like Spurs re-assessed his buy out clause when they last improved his contract..I hope to fuck its triggered on offers above 35 million sterling!
Spurs don’t do Buy Out clauses
A statement of intent from Levy would be good, you know like fuck off and find someone else to abuse. None of us like the feeder club tag
Even better, let’s table an official £20m bid for Rooney… And leak it to the press.
Something along the lines that he’ll want to be playing in front of the best midfield in English football should guarantee the s**t flying.
what a great idea
In today’s Express http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/249876/Tottenham-warn-off-Manchester-United-over-Luka-Modric
We know that Man U and Chelsea are looking to spend big to re-build. Barcelona have set the bar high and these two plus City are gonna have to go on a spend fest if they want to topple them in Europe. Modders is top class-and will be in demand. Levy has at least secured a decent transfer fee by getting him to sign till 2016 – but when an agent says “my boy wants to stay he’s just signed a new long term deal” and the player says ” I want to stay cos I’m happy but you never know what’s round the corner ” then I can only see it as a bargaining chip – all players will go where the money is. Long term deal for Modric = a signal to the market: “you’ll have to come up with big wages if you want him to leave” and “Spurs will want a big fee”. If his head is turned by CL football and a deal at 3 or 4 times his current wages he’ll be in Levy’s office the same as Berbatov, Keane and Carrick with a (cue appropriate accent) “but it’salways been my dream to play for…” demand. Love the bloke to death – and it will I fear send the wrong signals to the squad and the big spending clubs – but if the deal is good enough he’ll want to go. And Levy will have no choice but to sell at the best price.Hope I’m wrong but I have an ulcer beginning to develop about this one…..
Perhaps I’m interpreting this different from you H or just mis-reading your analysis but as I read it my understanding was this agent provacateur is saying Niko would stay if Modric leaves as he would then be afforded more first team action. Not same position exactly, but similar enough to warrant such a suggestion. ZP
i interpreted it the same…
No problem chaps. I am not 100% what the bloke has in mind for Niko – hence I put in bold the reference to bids received and being considered.
I like Niko a lot, but frankly is buttons compared to Modders.
It was that almost throwaway line about Moddders that rattled my cage.
