Modric, Bentley, J**** & Wilson

The morning after the night before.

Modric goes to Zabgreb to have a formal wedding ceremony in a church after an earlier registry office job. The only story to emerge in the Croatian press is that he went out for crab with another couple and had a nice time.

Next, we get ‘exclusive’ interviews with the player presumably via his Boatphone telling us how sweetly we’ll all get along when he’s got Samsung written on his chest.

Levy & Co have been forced to issue a statement this morning. It’s emphatic and more to the point it reveals that Cheatski have been revealed yet again operating in a dubious manner in relation to transfers.

Abramovich is probably too smart to let the trail of tapping up lead to his door, but Modric better get himself a good lawyer to assist him in when he’s back on dry land.  His part time football agent/part time dry cleaner chappy is now out of his depth.

The grim specter of replacing Luka Modric with Scott Parker looms.

So to the others. A chap on Spurs Community Akqayid,  says that Bentley, Wilson and J**** have all gone. To whom, for what he doesn’t reveal. Maybe on a bear hunt, or a goose chase. It’s that time of the year.

It may appear like Modri? has burnt his bridges but as I was just reminded by someone on the radio Rooney put in a transfer request and look what happened the manager convinced him to stay (okay £250k per week deal went some way too!) and they went on to win the league. So now the chairman and manager have to do a similar job with Modri?. Obviously they took their eye off the ball and allowed Chelsea the space to engineer this situation but as I say it is not irretrievable I’m sure the argument of ‘give us one more season’ and if no real challenge for honours occurs or no qualification for CL then sure have your move. We may view the statement with cynicism regarding past sales of Carrick, Keane and Berbatov but Luka also said he would not put in a transfer request either so something will have to change. Let’s see what happens if a formal request comes in and whether Daniel Levy rejects it or sticks to his guns.

Just what we all wanted to hear… Can’t wait to see the Mighty Spurs play in my country, South Africa in July… My only hope is Modric, Bale and VDV are still here, together with 2 top strikers…maybe Falcao and Leandro, with Defoe on the bench for the second half…BTW, if bentley, jenas and wilsons are gone hunting, wouldn’t it be nice to add Marin to our squad? Maybe get rid of Pienaar and Bassong while we at it ;-) COYS and Come on Daniel Levy!!!

well let us assume the daily mail, who i think were the first to report the quotes, got it right, a big assumption with that rag. then it needs to be taken out of the press. aresenal have frankly done a good job of keeping fabregas; did he want to go? sure. but did he ever say so much that he would lose face if he stayed? No. did the heirarchy at aresenal ever embarrass him in public buy saying he would never go etc? no. if modric is to stay, and care enough to play well and buy into it and not sulk and keep a good relationship with the fans this needs to be out of the public arena, and now. we cannot stop the rags like the mail, but statements by modric and the club chairman need not to be made in public taking opposite views or one is going to lose face. i think a quiet word pointing out that had we beaten w ham and blackpool twice we would have been above chelsea and that we will get the players in to do that (and the manager?) he would give us another season. its good to talk, and they bloody well should have done before he left for his holidays

One thing nobody seems to point out:
There is no point getting 40M for Modric unless, armed with that money, we can employ new TOP CLASS players. Current progress suggests we are having some problems getting the CL-grade players to sign. A quality Modric is worth 10 stars we can supposedly afford but HAVE NOT YET persuaded to sign. A bird in the hand etc….

I’m sorry to say that Modric is off. Happy to see the back of Bentley and especially Jenas, will be sad to see Wilson leave as he played excellent initially and made as a more aggressive as a team.

I read a good article about what Spurs need to get back in Champs League:

Silly comment. Stop believing everything you read!! Modric has NOT left yet. See comments about Rooney above. Also Bentley, Jenus and Wilson? None of them have left. So premature in our responses!
