If this is to be believed then don’t fuck about Levy, or worry about what some people might say about “going back on your word”. Sell the Judas runt.

    • Astromesmo says:

Levy will hold out for another £5m yet :shifty:

I don’t know why but I get the feeling that he’s spending the money already. Don’t know who or where but I think it’s something a bit out of left field, like VDV. There was something about the way Redknapp said there’s a ‘couple more that the Chairman’s working hard on’ that made me think there’s something going on beyond Parker or Cole.

Here’s hoping anyway. At £40m, you’d forgive Levy for going back on his word, at £45m you’d send him a Christmas card for doing it!

      • MysteriousStranger says:

He can buy two or three @ £15-£16 million players (like Modric’s cost to us)… and hopefully keep Parker/Cole out of the building. :daumen:

I’d settle for one of the two being Granero or Ilicic.

But seriously Astro, is £40 million acceptable to you?

        • Astromesmo says:

£40m is where the club that started all this hyper-inflated transfer bollocks should have started if they were genuinely ‘serious’ (like they said they were to our young rat-lad). That is a serious offer for a serious player. What else did they expect us to do when they were weasling around for £22m?

I think we all thought that £45m is the figure Levy had in his head. I guess we’ll see how close they get and how badly they want him. I don’t think Levy would be the kind of person to make a stand unless it served us in the long run and only he knows what the full game plan is.

He’s done pretty well so far – With maybe the exception of leaving Berba too late and not getting Suarez… But there’s a damn site more plusses than minuses in his ‘good works’ ledger… And for once, it really is completely in his hands how he moves forward.

          Interesting times.

Levy was supposed to have told Chelsea not to pursue the matter further last week (or earlier this week I lose track). Leastways, it tends to be the papers trying to create a story rather than report one; which is how about 95%+ of this summer has gone.

The problem is not the price tho’ and emotionally I absolutelty agree with you both on ‘dances with chickens’, but I can’t help but think that we are putting a value on our arse, which essentially says that we are there to be f*cked in it, as long as the price is right. The manner in which both ManU behaved and now Cheatski are behaving, if condoned by capitulating, will just encourage it from them (and others you can be sure – if we’d put the Bulgar or the bench I doubt we’d be talking about this now).

The same applies to the players; if we’d benched Berbatov, there’d be no ambiguity about our stand on what constitutes a contract and how we enforce it. If we were a Sunderland or Bolton or Villa we might see the odd star being sold off as a good way to keep a healthy squad of solid experienced pro’s and a few good journeyman, and stay in the premiership regularly. But we are not.

We want to be in the CL and to finish top 4 regularly, to do that we cannot sell our best players to the people we compete with; that’s not speculation, its a nailed-on no-brainer!

If we let Modric go now, Bale will go next, then Sandro, then Walker and Kaboul as they develop further. We might bring in replacements, but always a gamble and then when we get it right they too are walked down the garden path to Chav-ville, or Citeh.

It’ll take big balls to say no to 40million, but I think DL has them and I think he’s fed up with having his shoes pissed on by the Chavs (remember Arnesen). I hope he stands his ground this time, otherwise we’ll be going through this crap every transfer window as bully boys play standover as they syphonm off our best chances of making the grade.

How much does the Redknapp PR machine pay this dimwits

  • seattlespursguy says:

I’ve been saying Levy should hold the line, but if 40m is on offer we have entered silly money time. That is tougher call. We have to consider this now, imo.

  • perrymann says:

IMO Levy is ready to splash the cash with a Spurs record breaking transfer blitz.
