A bit tough on the youngsters going out in essence as a youth team. I think a couple would have looked better if surrounded by VdV with service from Bale and Lennon and the deft touch of dances with chickens.

I am actually quite excited by Adebayour, he has to be able to do more than Crouch: 4MP anyone? Won’t see him till Wolves though will we?

Sounds like there may be more, the young Spaniard doesn’t appear to be any slouch and Harry hinted at a couple of others. I can still see Diarra in, he said it was “a lie that an agreement” had been reached, not that they were talking. I suspect he was holding out for more money, so still a chance.

I’m more concerned now about who goes: we have a lot to offload. I suspect we’ll keep Defoe, with Adebayour, maybe Pav and Harry Kane sharing the fourth spot (HK’s under the age limit for squads)and bringing in one other. That means no spot for the coatstand. Wilson is saleable, Jen-arse loanable as is Begbie. Bassong maybe in exchange for Samba, Bentley well who know’s who’d want him; Villa?

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh! It’s starting to get exciting!!!!

I didn’t read anyone get too stuck into the youngsters. It was just a shit game, that’s all.

Although the oppo was the equivalent of the 1st division (old div 3) it was pretty piss poor.

Will the signing of ‘Ade’ (on loan) placate the departure of Modric?:

depends how you feel about modric, personally i rate the guy, some don’t,but also £30m is too good to refuse money isn’t it,i’d rather try out adebayor without selling luka and see how it goes

now chirpy has said luka would have been cup tied for sure so you have to wonder but levy seems to be adamant he is staying, unless they have players ready to sign there is no time to do anything now

where are bentley, dos santos, hutton, wilson do they play for THFC or what,i assume they are all injured or going if the krank and basoon are out and about where are the others

i wonder who levy and redknapp actually want to sell, its a bit confusing

    • TMWNN says:

Sorry Kojak, you beat me to it. We need to sort this out right now. If he pulls out the game on Sunday (it’s complete bullshit that he’s injured), he is already jeopardising our season.

  • TMWNN says:

So if Modric had played tonight, he would have been cup tied in the CL, is that right?

I’m finding it hard to get a reliable answer on this question. All the papers suggest that to be the case.

Looks to me as though we have a player on strike.

    • kojac says:

      chirpy confirmed it above,

i made the mistake that tonight is a play off and not a qualifying round,so yes he would be cup tied

blimey lawton is getting a bit personal with luka there, good read

Sod the football romantic bollocks, his wife – who he has committed to spend the rest of his life with – is more concerned with him earning three times as much money for the next 10 years max playing for any club in London. So she can go and spend it at her leisure on shite at Tiffany & Co. (read: he can give her whatever her heart desires), he can better secure his future. He doesn’t give a monkeys about us, I couldn’t care less if he read it or not.

Time for us to sell him to secure our future, than give him an improved contract for going on strike (i.e. rewarding that kind of behaviour), so he can go through the motions for another year before we do give in.

He’s already done the damage in my eyes, from hero to zero. Jog on Ratboy.

      • Astromesmo says:

So, our stand should be that we should sell our best players whenever they sulk and reward them that way?

If you want to leave WHL sulk. Done deal. Fergie knows it, Cheatski knows it. Just get the player to sulk and little old Tottingham will drop their drawers for a fistful of fivers?

Maybe Levy is getting all the players on loan now because he knows contracts are absolutely worthless… Unless of course the player wants to sit it out on his arse like Bentley and happily never play again for a fixed monthly fee.

It’s a mess but it ain’t a mess of our construction. I’m just glad that we’re either dragging as much mulah out of the dirty Russian as we can (The papers talk of a final, final, no honest final offer of £40m), or making the little bugger prove that he’s capable of behaving like a human being (for his poor suffering £70k pw missus) and to keep his career alive.

Him sitting on the bench is no good for his future employment potential and striking is even less good for his viability as a ‘team player’ in a large, expensive squad. After Berba’s sulking dramatics, I don’t notice a queue forming for him at Old Trafford.

        Make the bugger stew.

Astro, we are a club that has made great strides. A new stadium must come and the team must progress. Prudent business heads are required here. Modric will soon be 26 years old. It is the perfect time to sell him from a business perspective.

Modric appears to be less in love with Tottenham than we are. He is a Croatian national. He has gone on strike. My point regarding not rewarding him is us not rewarding him with our money.

He has already insulted our club. In an ideal world WHL will turn into a 60k seater stadium overnight, with little cost to us, and we can pay the top players closer to what they can earn elsewhere.

The FFPR should help level the playing field, but the bigger clubs with bigger stadiums are in pole position. I don’t think if we’re met with a silly offer we should slate the chairman for entertaining it, even after his declaration. If the club feels Modric cannot be swayed in his mood then so be it.

Berbatov sulked at Spurs, we kept him, he was pretty shite til Christmas, then he started playing again, we won the Carling Cup but that’s it. He then got his way, but we didn’t get fullest value out of him in the first few months, and it ultimately helped cost Jol his job.

Berbatov is now in his 30s. It’s a completely different situation to what it was when he was on our books. I am only concerned with our club, our club’s finances, progression to maintain our place as a top 6 team. We can catch up to the top four, but slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Paying top dollar wages by buying 28/29/30/31 year old players is madness given squad limitations, whether their names are Cole, Parker or whoever else. They are the players teams want off their books, less so on them – because they aren’t good for business. Unless your business model can sustain them. Ours? Not so much.

Invest in younger, hungrier, replacements. The next Modric, Bale will be around and hopefully at our club in 2015/2016 when hopefully we’ll have a new stadium. Whether they themselves are still kicking around the premises or not is immaterial to me. I don’t want our club jeopardising it’s future by going all in with the old boys club. We’ll be releasing players like there’s no tomorrow in 2013/2014 just to get rid.

It would be nice to keep Bale. But Modric? £40 million, yes please and thank you.

And maybe Levy is all about getting players in on loan cos he doesn’t want Redknapp landing us with more “past prime” property than neccessary.

This is a rarity… Frame it and tell the grand-kids folks.

I completely agree with you MS.

Please, nobody fall of their chairs.

Absolutely agree with everything you’ve put and I think it’s pretty much in line with Levy’s current strategy.

          Don’t sound so surprised
