Son Of Legend Has Signed!

That’s right. Son of John White, Rob White has along with co-author Julie Welch signed a copy of The Ghost Of White Hart Lane.

This is a really lovely book. There’s something about boys and their fathers when it comes to football. My first memories of Spurs were Saturday teatimes in the 1970’s. Dad took charge of the kitchen on Saturday nights and this invariably meant chips which for some reason he cut into ‘coins’ rather than well… chip shaped chips.

My job was to bring him in the scores for Tottenham (his London side) and Hibs (his Scottish side). I can’t remember the first time I went into the kitchen and referred to Tottenham as, ‘we’ but at some point I must have because it was in that front room sometime before the Generation Game came on one night that I became ‘one of our lot.’

This book is about a boy (about the same age as I was in the tale above) who’s father is tragically killed in a freak accident. A boy that has to go in search of a man he never really got to know.

Beautifully written from so many perspectives.

And you could win an autographed copy of it. Simply play my Audioboo and find out how…

John White was another, bit like Modric maybe not so busy, who found gaps and ‘ghosted’ through to cause total havoc for the defence and total joy for Allen and Smith.

Tragic end to a real star that has kept me away from trees in rainstorms ever since.

Heard him speaking on Paul Hawksby Talk Sport a staunch Spurs fan has you already no H.H. He must a proud man learning about his famous Father then seeing it in print, he told Paul it helped him get closer to his father. This is true because when you research your family’s History you feel like you no them and you get upset when you discover the tragic ways some of them Died. Coys 2nd2012

The thought that ran through my mind on Monday, when it seemed all but certain that circumstances would prevent the game at WHL, was why not have Levy offer to play it at Goodison Park – with proper compensation next year and the year after (i.e. guaranteed home openings). Is there a precedent for that sort of adjustment? Would it not make sense? If things were the other way round, would we/Spurs supporters be flexible enough at short notice to pack WHL?

Just a thought. It’s too late, of course, sewage under the bridge, but anyway…
