A Quick Poll

Image for A Quick Poll

Good afternoon.

I’m finding the attitude of some Tottingham fans laughable. And that’s as generous as I’m going to get. Tell me, just what is your position on cups these days? I mean do they still hold any appeal at all?

I was recently accused (no really it happened, some boys pointed at me, said something then pegged it)  of being some dreadful type who expected to win every game 5-0. An immediate gratification merchant.

This was in response to the fact that I dared to acknowledge the truth that watching our Yoofsters and second stringers I find [A] largely boring [B]Not very good value for money.

The kids so far have scraped past less than mediocre opposition in the Europa Cup and been a pivotal element in being dumped out of the Carling Cup.

So if we forget about my feeble attention span and ignore my miserly approach to life, tell me this and tell me true. What value do the cups actually  have to you these days?

Here’s the poll.

My opinion is motivated by the fact that NDP will cost a fortune, a fortune eased by CL qualification on a regular basis, not by home ties to shamrock or CC against accrington. If playing the youth keeps our best ready and fresh for an assault on the top 4 that’s good enough for me. The bigger picture is we need CL to compete. To fund a PL tilt, to pay for the new stadium, which in hand pays etc etc

  • Bruxie says:

I’m surprised no-one has made the point that the PL is the first stage of the CL.

It’s like a preliminary round to the latter stages.

Finishing fourth is merely a lesser form of first, second & third. you qualify for the qualifying stages of the CL – not quite group stage.

So, there you have it. We’re in the CL 2012/13 already. We need to finish top 4 to progress.

    QED

So lets do better and go first

Yes and winning some lesser silverware would go a long way to boosting moral for attaining the bigger prizes, but that wouldn’t dawn on our genius manager. :face:

      • Phil McAvity says:

Or it could wear out our 1 game a week players and cost us dearly in the league? Maybe our manager is infact a genius, who knows?

        • Hartley says:

I think we all know…. even the most ardent Arry lovers on here, that our manager is definitely not anything that even comes close to anything that slightly resembles a genius…even when looking at it upside down, in the dark, through an interpreter, in the morning, through rose tinted spectacles, beer goggles or any other sanity fooling device…yes, we know!

        • Essexian76 says:

Ha! Did you read his comment about Crutch and Wilson? “We had a triffic offer, one that we couldn’t refuse!” hang on a cotton pickin’ moment I thought-H old fruit- you paid 6m more than that for them! What a twat!

        • eastanglianspur says:

@ unfilled cavity Some genius who can’t get his training team to get ’em fit enough for two games a week. Perhaps it’s time they put him out to grass.

        • Essexian76 says:

Problem is his record is pretty hard to beat, and who do you replace him with? Just think if he were to go and A.N.OTHER comes in, he’ll want his own players etc and the merry-go-around of if but’s and maybe’s continues on. Also whether we like it or not, most players at the club rate him highly, so without question they’ll be transfer requests a plenty following his departure. Personally, if he shut his cake-hole or even thought about what he said with a little care and consideration, I’d be more inclined to back him, but he’ll speak and firmly entrench his foot into his yawning gob, and piss all and sundry off, except SSN and all other media sluts

        • eastanglianspur says:

I’m fully aware we’re stuck with him for the time being and for my money Hiddink is the only viable option if Levy can make him an offer.

We have some quality players now that most managers would die for, so I don’t think it would be that disruptive.

        • Essexian76 says:

Well, I could debate the OS till the cows cease mooing and have gone out again. But OK,lets play fantasy football. Here’s the senario. Redders has gone to England after Fabio buggers off. SAF fancies the job, so takes it.what would he do that’s any different from what Redders is doing now?, and I’m talking about all games inc last nights?, your call ol’ fruit

        • eastanglianspur says:

There’s nothing to debate. The only excuse(s) Redknapp has is Levy’s failure to sell and buy players at the right time, but then I would like to see the back of Levy as well.

          Who’s SAF?

        • Essexian76 says:

And there I rest my case…. Sir Alex Ferguson btw!

      • Phil McAvity says:

Ha!! You see Beastanglian that is your trouble, you moan and groan about ‘trout chops’ but then when asked who should replace him you either don’t answer or in this case come back with Gus Hiddink if Levy can make him an offer?

Well he’s rumoured to have been offered £66m to manage Anzhi Makhachkala so I hope that Levy is going to have whip round!!

        • eastanglianspur says:

Who’s moaning? I’m only stating facts – facts that you don’t like Mr Fantasy Football.

What’s £66m when the jerk Levy would have wasted twice that much on the Olympic Stadium. Not to mention all the wasted solicitors fees that could have paid Adeboy’s wages for a month

As for a whip round well yes that is Levy’s style him being a pretender.

        • Phil McAvity says:

You!! You moan about ‘Arry in the comments under most articles!!

Look at where we were as a club before Levy took the reins and look at where we were before ‘Arry became manger!!

Nothing fantasy about that, only facts!!

        • eastanglianspur says:

Moaning? No that’s just your one dimensional opinion of what I say. It originates from a mind set that’s easily satisfied and the reason why THFC has remained a mid table club with a mid table manager that you like to defend. QED :-D

        • Phil McAvity says:

One dimensional?? No that’s your moaning!!

So Harry is a mid table manager for us is he? Remind me (or yourself) of our final league table positions since he has been manager?

  • kojac says:

when did the league cup start the 60’s ?

i think you should choose each year if you want to enter it,the big 6-8 english clubs have enough going on now, like people have said football has changed

when we were banned from europe it had more significance at home but if you are in europe and doing ok it mirrors half the season,no need to bother with the league cup in that case,

i do agree that the being league champions should be the number one priority even challenging for the top spot would be nice COYS

  • cheeseybell says:

    Stop the advertising ……

Seriously, if you want to change the world, do this for all us fans, I hate adverts and there is no place for them…Harry I had more faith in you than to sell your soul………

Oh and my point is, advertising and marketing has ruined the FA cup, CC, UEFA and placed everything on this fixed tournament called the Champions League..Its a fix every year, you know it, and why….Money..Really money is the root of all that is evil, get it off your site please..

    • Essexian76 says:

Or try to use Mozilla perhaps?

    • Harry Hotspur says:

cheeseybell I hear you, but please learn to use your browser settings… :-(

the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
      money itself is not evil.

If HH spends all the time that he does to run this blog so we can all moan.then he deserves to get his recompense. He hasnt arksed us for any dough. If he can create a good living out of this venture good luck to him.You dont have to buy wot is advertised do you?

    Damiao crocked:

Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Damiao looks set be out for weeks after limping off at half-time during Internacional’s match against Figueirense.

The 22-year-old has scored an incredible 39 goals in all competitions this year attracting the attention of Spurs and even Barcelona.

“I don’t know if it has torn or what has happened,” a tearful Damiao told reporters.

…Wonder if he did it while doing his trick flick, pretty impressive, google ‘Leandro Damiao lambretta’
