Lachanorizo

Good morning all.

Roll on Sunday and the opportunity to watch a football match. Yes, a point in the bag, good to give the kids a run out and all that but it was horrible viewing and I don’t believe I’ll bother watching any more of this pap.

On a practical note it will be interesting to take a peek at ticket sales for home fixtures for games featuring such weakened teams sheets. I would imagine that Levy & Co will be all over Arry on this and it may be a good juncture to run the tape showing fans fleeing the Lane during the course of the second half of the Hearts match.

I will of course be blasted for suggesting this with such illuminating arguments as ‘we woz 5-0 up’ ‘good to see the kids play’ but I wonder (with the notable exception of clowns such as ‘Proper Fan’ who soon naffed off when reminded that the game was included in his Season Ticket…) how many of the poor bar stewards contemplating reaching into their already recession hit pockets will bother.

Maybe I’m out of touch. Maybe I’m not a true fan. Maybe watching children play chase ball is the future. I have never tried Lachanorizo –  Cabbage with rice – but my guess is it’s a truly dull dish.

Oh yeah and another thing, you have far to much popping up on your site now. It’s really fucking it up so sort it out!

I actually found it quite refreshing and encouraging that we could put out a team like that and still manage a decent result. Up to now only Fergie and Wenger have had the depth of quality in that age level to try something like that. If only a couple of them eventually progress to the first team in the PL it will be an achievement and even if they only get to an O’Hara/Jenas level we will not be any worse off. Shifting the deadwood has given them a chance and maybe in the long run will save the club some transfer fees.

Agreed. Can you see either of Chelsea or Man City coming close to doing what we did last night?

Whilst I agree the game itself was a bit disappointing, I think we’ve seen enough of Tom Carroll in the two games he’s started to know he’s a diamond in the making.

I have to agree with you in regards to Carroll, he has a bright future, very comfortable with the ball, good passing range and always in space…

I have to say I enjoyed watching the youngsters last night. Yes the football wasnt spectacular but they were a good footballing side and if that group of players can kick it up a gear or too pace wise then I can see about 4 of them making it to the first XI.

Also I think it is worth it to say that keeping Harry for the next season or two will actually see some of these youngsters make it. As we all know if we get rid and bring someone new in they will want their own players and any space in the squad for this lot will be gone. I suppose for the moment we need to hold onto Harry to see us save several million pounds in transfer fees when we have perfectly good players already at the club!

I didnt mind watching the young’uns play. I thought they were pretty good, especially the first half. The Europa cup doesn’t mean all that much to me, so i’m more than happy to see that team on the pitch, maybe that means i’m not a true fan.

Carroll impressed again and as a Gio lover the hands on the hips thing pissed me off was well. The big problem was the front end. Kane just looked raw again and I get Pav a little more – he just tries things, anything, and mostly they don’t come off. Falque looked OK, ahead of Rohan Ricketts but a bit like somebody else I can’t remember who was a bit lightweight in attack [not Dominguez but somebody]. For a team that wasn’t a team they did incredibly well, but it was the building towards threatening the goal that reminded me of last season – if a goal was going to come it was by midfielders working it through between themsleves, and that seems to be a product of coaching not of a lot of young strangers trying to make a go of a tough fixture – which they did so there should be no criticism of them as a whole. Gio though maybe ne needs the lurrrrve of the Mexican crowd, maybe he just can’t get it up for the Totts, or for anyone outside of Gaudalajara. I’d still prefer him ahead of Lennon or VDV on the right, just to see if he sparks, because if he does he can be sensational.
