Wigan Away The Pre Match Prattle

Good morning.

So here we are once more. Over our shoulder a victory of sizable proportion; the smell of Scouse blood barely gone from the nostrils. Ahead of us a shower of a team that on paper we ought beat by five goals or more.  But will we? The defining characteristic of last season and indeed seasons before that has been the inability to sustain the vaguest consistency.

Dances with Scones is staring down the blade of a scalpel and The Times report that Tommy’s ankle needs to be ‘opened up again.’ Ouch. No only horrible but surely surgery to blight a big chunk of this season for him.

Where is Azza Blud? Still injured? I say Azza is still on the lamb in LegoLand Windor and refusing to come out except to mount snatch and run raids for fast food items from the hands of small children. A fortnight in, he’s become quite feral.

Gallas is out but thought to be perhaps being readied for Arsenal indoors which takes place in a week and a day. I would imagine that King will rested for this also. Late fitness tests for Pav, A&E and Arry Redschnapp’s script writers who are reported as ‘being exhausted’.

This should be another rout in our favour. History has taught us that this is highly unlikely. History my peachy arse say I and 0-2 is my prediction.

Hudd’s fitness is a real worry. He seems to have been hors de combat for the best part of a year. Is this another Woodgate/Hargreaves scenario? Hudd was really clicking -remember how he righted the ship against that Swiss outfit? – and now you suggest, HH, that he’s in the Wilshire category. And why is it that Pienaar can’t make himself whole?

The irony is that we have this state of the art facility limping along into readiness – still a year away – on a parallel path with our blokes stumbling towards fitness. What does it tell us about the modern game?

What I want most from the lads this year is that steeliness, that tough ‘we’ll find a way to beat you’ attitude which characterizes perennial winners. By all means play elegant football, keep it on the ground, pass with speed and incisiveness, find open spaces to run into, and the net whenever possible, BUT DON”T EVER DOUBT THAT YOU WILL WIN.

Wigan today is the moment for the lads to show us the iron inside the velvet glove.

    IMHO. COYS!

Dances with scones, absolutely love that nickname Harold!!

A win will do me, don’t really care what the score is, lets get this 3 point train well and truely rolling.

Watching the Man City game, and once again Moye’s has instilled a belief in his team. So confident and assured against a team so obviusly superior, yet o the shownig so far, they look on an equal footing.

2-1 Spurs with Bale and Kaboul for us and DiSanto for them….but I fear a draw is more likely…

Thinking todays game will be a test.

Never seem to play that well at their place.

As you quite rightly state HH, should be a walk in the park. As us Spurs supporters of many a year know thats when were most likely to put in a poor shift.

One positive our BBC friend Mr Lawrenson stated is the pitch should be fine. Seem to remember last year Krankie looking like he was treading water on their pitch.

    Expecting a nervy 0 -1.

    Hoping for a resounding 0 – 2

    COYS

Be at LB is a big mistake. Keep our mids and attack. And throw bassong at lb. Bale will track back and help him if we need. Rather change 1 players position and 2 players. The entire dynamic of our play could hindered…
