Return Of The [Dirty] Mac

Good morning.

Some people think that newspaper content has an inherent value and so ought to be paid for by its readers. There isn’t a business model (that actually works) based upon the word ‘ought.’

The London Evening Standard leaves others in its wake on the 12th of this month as the paper that was value at 50p hits the streets for free. My prediction is that their wish to increase from 250k readers to 600k readers may in time prove conservative.

Meanwhile, sheltering behind a pay wall like malnourished pup holding out for an RSPCA van to turn up, is The Times. And over that wall is the news that David Pleat is returning to Tottingham in the capacity of ‘European Scout.’

Pleat arrives staggering from the train wreck at Nottingham Forest. Pleat held onto with his fingertips a part time consultancy job at the City ground where baying fans eventually got their wish as he and Schteve McClaren  got the old Spanish Archer.

Let’s see how many Forest fans will still be smiling when they read this morning that Roy Keane the World’s Crappiest Manager™ is the bookies favourite to be appointed.

Back to The Lane and our thoughts must be around how this might effect the buying dynamic. Is this merely Director Of Football by another name? Or a crystal clear indication that Levy & Co have caught on that Arry’s transfer talents significantly ebb the moment he walks into a departure lounge?

I have a soft spot for Pleat, his insanity is a part of football that should be cherished but is fading. Pundits and presenters are more like mortgage advisors these days …oh well, the policemen are getting younger too.

Bale had a cracking game tonight and appeared uninjured at the end of the game.

    This will prove disasterous!

Pleat has been a cancer at THFC, he has undermined, back-stabbed, created secondary reporting lines, split the squad into camps and much, much more: this was a secret. Three times a care-taker manager….ever heard the expression about never having an accident, but seeing lots?

Pleat is slimey sod and letting into the club, even to make tea, is the equivalent of just doing Heroin “this one time”. His very presence inside the ground will start to create rot and he’ll see the main prize as promoting a Sherwood to take over from HR, watch them fall (complete with a slight nudge here or there) and step in to the slot.

Make no mistake this man is a snake and his involvement with the club has never been health. In fact the club has only just recovered from his influence. This is a BAD, BAD move!

…that should read: “…this was NEVER a secret”

Brought back for a reason, Sherwood the pikey should never have got past the gates

Yep, he’ll toady his way back up the slippery pole, undermining and scheming as he goes. But Levy knows this, so maybe it’s a deliberate ploy on his part?

I’m obviously ,ill educated regarding the Pleat. When was he doing the undermining. I seemed to have missed all this.

Look back at both his positions under Hoddle and Graham before that. He caused massive internal rifts, using his position to undermine them both, with the intent of regaining his position as manager. When he finally succeeded after Hoddles sacking (justified),he proved both inept and out of touch. The shame of it all, was his team in 1986-7, was truly brilliant to follow, and an absolute pleasure to watch, and I’ve no doubt his sacking and the availability of Terry Venables coincided somewhat, and perhaps the sacking wouldn’t have happened if TV wasn’t getting tapped up by Scholar, all speculation, but happy memories on my part-happy mammaries on his no doubt!

Please would somebody pass this on to Daniel Levy before its too late. :freu

    • eastanglianspur says:

Do you think that will help? Do you also think Levy is not already aware? Either way, what does it say about him?

If it’s true this is very bad news indeed and if he is employed by the present management I think it will pretty much vindicate everything I have been saying about our in-house guys from Peckham.

No names of course so as not to offend the wimp sensitivities of some.

Van pervy on a free next summer?

After reading some of your comments i’m starting to dislike the man for something i dont know about! Any examples for me to ponder.

    • dancingbarber says:

He was director of football and undermined first George Graham and then Glenn Hoddle by playing politics in the boardroom – until Daniel Levy finally booted him out.

But the role of European scout requires him to travel to all the places Harry won’t go and never to return to England again (hopefully)
