What A Pilchard

Good morning.

Yesterday we had the breakfast, today the dog’s dinner. For those of you joining us late I am one of those born again moany types who went from enjoying Arry amiably providing the press with quotes …to one that has become increasingly jaundiced with his inability to break wind without calling talkSPORT and shooting – if not literally talking them through – the breeze.

Arry has responded to Rafa’s gripes via not only the same medium but via the same newspaper.

“Yes, it does seem to be a problem. Rafa can’t run back and chase the full-back. Against the better teams it is a problem. Rafa’s best position is in the middle, playing just behind the front man.

The only problem is that Jermain Defoe plays there too and Jermain is playing very, very well at the moment.

So, I guess I have got a decision to make, haven’t I? I suppose it’s now between Rafa and Jermain over who plays in the team.”

Dear Mr Redschnapps, if you genuinely feel you have a decision of such mind numbing stupidity such as this to make, please make it your last.

You may well have always believed but you didn’t always pay attention in Englsh lessons did you?

Cheap pop to one side, if you fell that ‘media whores’ are somehow ‘creating this situation than you my friend are damaged goods. A tin with no label and a dink in it.

I have no remit and can run 10 two bob articles a day or none. So stop making things up you soppy mare.

There is no doubt that Rafa has improved our midfield creativity, the quality of chances and goal scoring since his arrival.

We have seen a fair degree of petulance from him too, especially when he is substituted. Rafa seems to blow a gasket around the 60minute mark and his hamstrings are suspect too.

I empaatise with Rafa about it not being his job to chase raiding full backs hairing down “his” side of the pitch and causing probs for our defenders. I thought the 2011 summer would see Rafa achieve a level of fitness and power which would reinforce his world class footballing skill/brain with turbo charged pins but it just hasnt happened.

He aint no Roy Keane but is well worth the short comings, until someone beter or much more willing is promoted from the reserves.

The problem with VDV is perception. That is, perceiving him as a midfield player who should be, among other things, chasing attacking fullbacks about the place. He is actually a second striker, a goalscorer,a highly gifted and creative player who needs the freedom to roam the forward areas of the pitch in order to find and exploit space and engineer opportunities for himself and others. Perceive him this way and it really does become a straightforward choice between him and Defoe, and VDV gets that vote, at least as long as JD splutters and misfires. We almost lost it v Arsenal in midfield, but not because of Rafa. If he’d have played up the middle with Adebayor instead of Defoe, and Sandro had started, Arsenal would never have monopolised midfield and we would surely have capitalised on the greater possession we’d have enjoyed. With limited possession we were much more dangerous than them anyway.

I rest my case – Redknapp out, with the midget holding his hand as he goes.

    • CptCaveman says:

Yeah…cause he hasn’t done anything for us since he’s been here!!

Great work….did you put that case together yourself Einstien??

We should probably consider putting you in charge…I’ve read alot of your comments and you seem well in touch…I suppose you want Levy out aswell??

Some people are just tossers…sorry I meant Gooners!

      • eastanglianspur says:

He can’t man manage – he has favourites – good man managers DO NOT HAVE FAVOURITES – they treat all the players as equals and base their decisions solely on their playing ability not their petty emotions with regard to what they may or may not have said. Get it through your thick head and get over it.

        • CptCaveman says:

LOL, OK, so in your opinion he cant man manage…of course, you have spent hours working/training along side him in order to build up such a water-tight view so I cant argue that point…I will however point to our current position as a football club in the last few years…and of course his record as a Spurs manager. This season we’ve already beaten two of the supposed top 5 teams…So man manage or not, he seems to be doing a great job! Still, how can I arge with someone as knowledgeable as yourself…yeah lets rest your case…Harry OUT!! Im sure once we’ve begun all the rebuilding process, in a few years another manager would be doing a much better job!!

        • Essexian76 says:

He can’t man manage? you really think that!, What a tool-you are making me defend a bloke who I cannot stand, simply because you’re so bigoted in your opinion, that the facts and evidence clearly suggests otherwise!

        • eastanglianspur says:

I know it – I don’t just think it and it’s plain for all to see – unless you’re a blind idiot who only wants to see what he wants to see and there really is no argument against such a deluded mindset. :dizzy2:

        • Essexian76 says:

Hey Old fruit, Who is the self appointed bigotty-bigot-oh, right it’s you of course Old Fruit, Easy answer is…4 games=12 points, or is that a little hard for you to comprehend?

        • eastanglianspur says:

And it should be 6 games = 16 points if we had an owner that did his job and prepared his club for a new season and manager that could manage. :ermm:

      • TMWNN says:

So because he has opinions that differ from yours, he’s a gooner?

I’m of the opinion that he’s good man manager with those he gets along with, but piss poor with those he doesn’t.

        • Essexian76 says:

Who said he’s a Gooner?-I clearly meant idiot!

        • TMWNN says:

..and if this blog is anything go to by, he’s very much a Marmite type character.

        • eastanglianspur says:

How did you know I liked Marmite TMWNN? :-D :daumen:

        • Hartley says:

I’m in total agreement with TMWNN’s statement :daumen:
I also have to say that East is clearly not a gooner and to call anyone on here one simply because you don’t agree with them is below the belt (unless they are one of course and we do get them from time to time).
For the record it wasn’t you Essexian, you are far too civilised to come out with something that low to a fellow yid, it was CptCaveman…

VdV is class, Twitchy is classless…nuff said ;-)

        • Spurstacus says:

I may not actually choose to stoop so low, but, I defend the right of a man to call another man ‘Gooner’. Harmless banter in my eyes.

    • Hartley says:

Then you are a neanderthal just like that CptCaveman fella and there is no room in society for you in this day and age…and please don’t quote that old chestnut ‘freedom of speech’ because it just won’t wash… :shifty:

      • jim says:

Even gooners dont like to be associated with gooners! Not at the moment anyway.

        • Essexian76 says:

Perhaps a clause insertion is needed? defining the term “Gooner” as in “Gooner” i.e.someone who follows Arsenal as opposed to Goon(er), someone who is a blithering idiot i.e. Neddy Seagoon,Bluebottle etc

        • eastanglianspur says:

Stop putting yourself down Numpty76. It’s not good for your self-esteem. 8O

        • Essexian76 says:

‘Numpty’, you did it again, what with your ‘Troutface’ line as well, oh, mate you should be on the stage with your put downs, so funny, so witty!

      • eastanglianspur says:

@Numpty76 There, and again. I like making someone’s day with humourous comments. :winke:

  • Greekos says:

I got to say that I dont really see anything wrong in what Harry has said. He’s right Rafa should do the job for the team. Its not all about him and given some of our upcoming fixtures maybe a few games on the bench will cut him down to size and make him realise that he plays for a team with an abundance of midfield talent and that we CAN win games without him.

He is a great player and a game changer but he should be a team player too and he needs to know Harry is the boss and he should just do as he is told like the rest of the team. Rafa you are not special when you are in a team of special players.

I think we all need to lay off Harry about his public speaking. Like Rafa’s inability to stay in position this is Harrys fault and considering the state the club is in now to where it was when he joined us I’ll happily put up with it.
