Operation Hernia

Good morning Ladykillers.

It’s all very well owning lots of stuff on DVD but the umitigated joy of switching the telly on to discover the opening credits of an all time favourite rolling is a gift. Last night I would have merrily agreed to never switch on – that thing we have all our furniture pointed at – ever again.

Enthusiasts for our approach to this tournament must be mentally exhausted from rehearsing the positives to be drawn from the game. There weren’t any. And if anyone trots out the old ‘good to see the yoofsters get a run out line’ they need to have their head examined. From the luxury of their living rooms hundreds of thousands of Tottingham fans will have gone to bed grateful they weren’t paying up to £40 to sit on a cold hard plastic seat watch it.

Did we learn anything? Tough question. Have we had enough of Pav or is it he’s had enough of us? Bassong is a waste of rations and Livermore may need to see a pharmacist this morning as he’s bound to have a rash come up after resting on his laurels for 90 minutes.

Roll on Fulham then.

Try using the settings in your browser. I can pop round and do it for you, but the call out fee is on the steep side.

The only positive I can see is that the score stayed as low as it did. Our kids are in the main not up to playing against the better teams (Rubin are one of them) in the compettion. Whatever anyone thinks of the Europa it would be embarrassing in the extremis for us to go out at the group stages – st this point in time our Uefa ranking is the top in the competition fer crissakes.
‘Arry – put some competent players out in the next two games so that I can be arsed to watch and also so we have a chance of saving face.

It would only be embarrassing if you play your 1st team…we are not… Are Man U embarrassed at going out of the League cup to York? No. We need to leave the smaller club mentality behind. The tournament is cheapened by the way that teams knocked out of the CL get re-entered into the Europa. Ridiculous.

We have got away with it so far, very lucky in Greece, very lucky at home to the russians, if we want to progress in this competition we will need to play better players. These games will be great experience for the kids, but if we keep playing them we will lose because we are not creating any chances, we did not have a single shot on target last night and that is crap.

We’ll get through to the ko stages as we’ll only need to win our next home game, with an away fixture in ireland to come, 10 points should see us through. We’ll then put our something nearer a premier league starting XI.
Bassong was woeful, he looked like something out of a sunday league match when attempting to take an unnecessary extra touch before clearing the ball, Pienaar didn’t do much, he gave the ball away in silly areas and looked off the pace. Hopefully it’s due to a lack of game time but I can’t see him getting much with performances like that one. Pav was crap – get rid asap.
Some of the youngsters looked promising, Carrol was always looking to keep the ball moving, Falque was lively but you could see he was a leftie playing on the right. Fredricks also looked promising.

  • Hartley says:

The boy Carroll done good, Cudicini saved it from being embarrassing and Gallas got some game time, apart from that it was a complete waste of time…oh and the live blog went down like a lead balloon with all but a few…
Looking forward to seeing the first team at Fulham and then we have one of those suicide inducing International breaks, can’t wait… :-(
