Operation Hernia

Good morning Ladykillers.

It’s all very well owning lots of stuff on DVD but the umitigated joy of switching the telly on to discover the opening credits of an all time favourite rolling is a gift. Last night I would have merrily agreed to never switch on – that thing we have all our furniture pointed at – ever again.

Enthusiasts for our approach to this tournament must be mentally exhausted from rehearsing the positives to be drawn from the game. There weren’t any. And if anyone trots out the old ‘good to see the yoofsters get a run out line’ they need to have their head examined. From the luxury of their living rooms hundreds of thousands of Tottingham fans will have gone to bed grateful they weren’t paying up to £40 to sit on a cold hard plastic seat watch it.

Did we learn anything? Tough question. Have we had enough of Pav or is it he’s had enough of us? Bassong is a waste of rations and Livermore may need to see a pharmacist this morning as he’s bound to have a rash come up after resting on his laurels for 90 minutes.

Roll on Fulham then.

Those who call it a waste of time are clearly wrong. It has not only been fantastic experience for the kids, it has allowed us to prepare a couple of back up LBs (Rose and Townsend) should (god forbid) anything happens to Ekotto. We also can see that Townsend has some way to go in terms of the final third. Also it has shown reality to those fans getting ahead of themselves suggesting that Harry Kane could possibly break through this season. It also shows that Dos Santos is still not good enough to play for us (apart from against Irish part-timers). It allowed Tom Carroll to deserved earn his first England U21 call up. It also has proved that Cudicini is completely over his double wrist break! Hardly a waste of time…

What was the point? We have an entirely well rested team for the tough away game at the cottage and we’re still on course to win the group. That was the point.

The fact of the matter is that the management had written this game off and sent out a team to gain experience and limit the damage. I obviously need my head examined because I can’t for the life of me see how kids learn anything by showboating against minnows. This is precisely the kinds of games where they do learn.

I know we all want to win every game with a cricket score but how many of you would be complaining if we’d taken an experienced side out there, won handsomely but were reduced to playing last night’s team come Sunday because of a whole bunch of injuries?

    Answer me that!

we didn’t have any proper full backs and were relying on carroll and livermore to create something, fredericks looks like he could be useful though, quick and tricky

it was an open game though which is good to watch, all though tactically it was probably better to play the old two sitting,in reality we didn’t look like we knew how to score which is always puzzling,

i don’t quite get your negativity though about the ropa,it doesn’t make any sense to me,its all about beating fulham and those youngsters that played would have got more out of that game than anything previous which brings them all on a bit, whether they make it or not

making the knockouts is still on should get 4 points from the next 2 games which leaves us with some nice cup football come february

Harry. I stopped watching after 15mins. In fairness the level of teams in Europa at this early stage is about the same as MKDons so why send out to Siberia our 1st eleven team? We know the players that played yesterday are either on the up or on their way out (if a decent offer comes in). For me the football was crap – but boy oh boy did they celebrate when they scored!

I do like the boy Carroll. He looks to have the right stuff. Was good to see Carlo perform well between the sticks too as good backup keepers are a necessity. Pav/piss/poor. Bassong
