Rapid Fire Ratings

Good morning.

It was made pretty bleedin’ obvious to me that there is a place for Tottingham fans like me when it comes to competitions like this. Behind glass in a museum. But in the interests of getting on with it here’s the rating based upon the shifts put in and not the idiotic strategy applied to the tournament.

One or two good moments when called upon.

Like his spirit. Needs to watch his temper.

Don’t cha wish your right back was A&E?

Needs to be loaned out. See a bit of the world.

Stellar goal, but is he a bit thick?

Not match fit, last night will have blown a few cobwebs away.

Says he’s happy. I say they’ve just upped his Prozac.

 Jenas on acid.

He’s waiting to leave. Which is a pity.

His unrelenting determination paid off. Again.

G d Santos..totally and utterly useless the best thing he did yesterday as walking on and then off the park, other than that a waster of the highest order and the biggest pain the arse since Keano, but at least the latter actually tried

The pity being that he’s still waiting.

He was infuriatingly bad, his attitude stinks and above all shows little or no desire to wear the chicken badge. From my perspective, he seems like a guy driving the wrong way on the M25 shouting “Idiots!” at the cars heading in his direction, get rid asap

Last night underlined how shallow the squad really is. If you took the team that played against Stoke and added King, Dawson, Hudd, Sandro and possibly Defoe there really isn’t too much more.

Great goal by Townsend but there again great goal by Rose close on two years ago now and what has he done since?

Would be a tragedy if Sandro left. Cannot decide about Livermore but if we got £1m for dos Santos I’d be amazed. Would be good to see a bit more of Falque.

So if you took the 11 that played against Stoke, added the 5 you mention, as well as the subs that didnt play you have 21 players. Add 5-10 youngsters (1 or 2 of which might “make it”) you have a decent squad.

We’re not Man City, be happy with where we are. Most clubs would love our squad.

It is just so annoying watching Gio. He has so much pace, great close control and natural ability BUT he never has any end product and is just always on the pepriphery of games. Sadly he will just not make it at WHL. A move to Spain or Italy hopefully beckons. Pienaar is also so frustrating to watch. He does a lot of great work, has loads of energy but also makes so many simple mistakes. I suppose the main thing is that he needs a run of games but that will not happen barring injuries.
Good to see Krankie back, a class player, great passer, albeit again he will not be a regular at WHL as we have so many great midfielders.
Agree with ForeverHopeful that as far as the Premier League our sqaud still needs some more strength especially as cover for both full backs (as it looks like Corlucka is a goner), Centre half (as Bassong looks like he is a goner) and Centre Forward cover for Ade (as he was a gooner).

Hear that Newcastle want to loan Livermore. Great, get him out and see if he is actually up to playing in the PL, like Walker. I tend to think he is another O Hara at best. Full of commitment, not so full of ability and skill. Can probably forge a career in bottom 3 teams, not much more. But we’ll see. Walker proved himself at Villa, as I think Caulker will, and maybe Naughton too – can we recall him in January as cover for the fullbacks?

    • UnkleKev says:

I know it wasn’t the most testing of oppositions, and I know he was a shade fortunate to avoid being sent off in the second half, but I thought Livermore did okay at centre back (and not for the first time this year, either). I would like to see him go on loan to Newcastle to see what he’s made of.

  • UnkleKev says:

A word of praise is due I think to Harry Kane. Came on for the last quarter of an hour, looked lively and scored a goal. Did all that could be reasonably expected of him. Here’s hoping he can secure a loan move to one of the better Championship sides in January as I remain convinced he’s got what it takes to be a hit at Tottingham.

    • kojac says:

oh yes,i missed kanes first goal, what was it like

      • UnkleKev says:

Put it this way, it’s unlikely it’ll be remembered for being anything other than being Kane’s first goal. No more than six yards out in a packed penalty area he somehow managed to squeeze it through a number of legs and across the line.

It clearly meant the world to him though, which was good to see.

        • kojac says:

good,he was lucky he managed to score in probably the last minutes of playing time he will get at tottenham this season
