Farewell Old Girl

Guten Abend.

So it’s goodbye from Super Roman Crazypavin’. In the final analysis it was a less than super stay at The Lane. But there some moments of superness.

He was branded a turkey by some, so let’s talk turkey.  In the 09/10 season he had a better goals per minute ratio than all of his fellow strike partners in Midget Gem, 3MP and PSB.

In the 2010/11 season when by March Romanus had  ratio of 151 compared to competitors Midget Gem who had 208, 3MP had 243 and Rafael van der Vaart had 161.[

By December of the 11/12 season, he’d been been rationed to just 18 minutes of Barclays Premier League football.  Then he came one vs Sunderland and scored the only goal of the game.

So this is a small plea from me for the hate fest gang to move on to the next poor barsteward they plan on bullying.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – don’t think Arry communicates effectively with those who don’t speak the Queen’s. The guys from foreign climes that excel in his charge ie Modric are the type able to play anywhere under anyone. So if Pav was guilty of needing an arm around the shoulder it is ironic he was isolated under Arry.

He wasn’t discovered nicking stuff out of other player’s lockers; he hasn’t left under a cloud, but to read some of the mean spirited garbage on Twitter and a all the forums last night you’d have thought he did.

I wish you well.

Wish Pav all the best back in Russia and the Euros. Alway felt that he was always one half of a strike partnership that we never completed with the second part.

Saha – If he stay fit and Harry can work his magic then will prove a genius signing. Big strong, fits the ‘replacement for Ade if he’s injured’

Nelson – Disappointing when thinking the defender Harry was talking about was gonna be Samba, but in hindsight he’s good cover, will a calm head and experience.

Outgoings – This is where my problem is. We started the season with a wealth of right-backs – Walker, Corluka, Naughton, Smith… We’ve now sent all bar one on loan. and Walker could be out for a few games. Just plain stupid.

‘Arry says Pienaar cant go out as we have injuries and didnt get a replacement in and then send him out. I’m not his greatest fan but wheres the cover now? All our talented yoof has been sent out on loan too. If he gets rid of Gio now we really will have problems with width and pace if our wing wizards pick up injuries. Idiotic.

Saha is clearly a talented striker who hasn’t had the best of luck over the last few years. Hopefully all he’ll be required to do is put in the odd cameo here and there until we can really strengthen that department in the summer.

The fact that Pienaar’s been allowed to go out on loan would seem to suggest that Huddlestone isn’t that far away from being ready. Which is very welcome news indeed.

Samba or Nelson? I don’t know much about Nelson but a number of Blackburn supporters seem to be very disappointed to see him leave. We’ll have Caulker back next year so all we need for now is back-up. And since Samba has openly said he’ll no longer be giving his all for Blackburn he is not the sort of player I want to see at this club.

Livermore has now filled in for Walker on a couple of occasions at RB and been more than capable, so that’s not an issue either.

So all in all a very successful (if low-key) transfer window.

Another player to add to the list of ‘could have beens’….good striker of the ball (often) poor first touch (often). Not sure there’s actually anything wrong with him as a goal scorere (his record is as HH says as good as anyone else’s) but…he clearly didn’t fit in with the way Arry wants his lead striker to play – which requires the front man to ‘lead the line’ / hold play / draw defenders / make space for the ‘feeder’ partner / midfield runners – you know the “stooge and the straight man” partnership – which has been it seems our prefereed style. Worked with Defoe off Kanoute under BMJ, Keane off Berbatov (for a season at least), VDV / Crouch (sometimes). And Greaves and Gilzean in another life.
Doesn’t always work out in life – but at least he was getting £40/50k a week, the poor bugger.
Wish him well – we may see him in the CL next season. The good news is there won’t be any Arry related issues on ‘profits made on sale of players’ type bonuses ( which has been reported more recently / allegedly / no comment or opinion is proferred here etc etc )

Harry’s treatment and non selection of him made him rusty, the crowd got frustrated, he lost confidence, the crowd got more frustrated, he lost more confidence, Harry suddenly justified in not playing him and when he was needed he just wasn’t up to the pace of the game.

Shoddily treated Pav – that run of 10 goals in 11 games got us into the Champions League. He also did what Defoe never does and performed well and scored against the big boys. Just don’t think he ever learnt the English for “please don’t just launch 50 yard balls at my head, I may be tall but I’m not a target man”. The fact that Crouch played more than him last season is pretty shocking.

If Saha stays fit he could have an impact, he’s got some pace and is decent in the air (or did the last time I saw him play).

Is Ade ever going to shoot again?

Pav had to go. His haircut was so pre-Peristroika

Good luck Pav, never given a proper chance under Harry, never was in his little group of favourites. If he’d had half same support and game time that we gave long streak of p**s 3mp, he’d have been scoring for fun.
    Great shame.
