Good morning and a belated happy seventy seventh birthday to a living legend.
He was the best left winger in the world and he was Tottenham. One hundred and thirty five goals in three hundred and eighteen games. So Cliff, please accept the day late love and respect sent here from fans around the globe.
But here’s the thing. Cliff ended his Spurs career some eight months before I was born. So it would be tricky to say the least for me to write a piece on one of the greatest players that ever wore the Lilywhite shirt.
So this is your blog. Tell me about Cliff Jones.

Happy Birthday big fella! We don’t half miss your trademark diving headers…. I’m struggling to remember when I last saw one of those!! Thanks for the memories….
I would have loved to have watched games like that. The pitch looked awful, the stadium like a bigger craven cottage and the players passionate without resorting to spite.Other than WHL, Fulham’s ground is my favourite in the league possibly Europe.Happy Birthday Cliff.
Met Cliff in Tesco’s in Cheshunt a few Christmas’s back, he is a gentleman and still, he assured me, has a good golf swing.
The (entirely fallible!)memory I have is of being taken by my uncle to see what I think was Cliff’s home debut – 1958, I would have been 9. Smaller kids didn’t always get much of a view in those days, but I have a vivid recollection of Cliff cutting in from the left wing, letting fly from 30-odd yards & leaving the crossbar reverberating! Which really announced him at WHL.
Some great stuff, chaps :daumen:
