The Gareth Bale Venn Diagram

Good morning.

Bloody minded people tend to fall into two catagories.  The ones you can reason with and the ones that are so impervious to rational thought that even if their intentions and assertions made a scrap of sense  you just know that they are going to screw up anyway.

“We haven’t a natural wide-right player apart from Aaron Lennon but Gareth can play there.

“People who moan don’t understand the game. People switch wingers now.

“Lots of left-sided, left-footed wingers play on the opposite side. It happens all the time.

“Bale likes playing there. He plays there for Wales and Gary Speed played him there all the time. He played wide right — he didn’t play left.

“He did all right against Everton. He did better than he has done on the left in the last few weeks — it’s not a problem.”

Arry Redschnapps speaking to the Sun

Faced with this level on intellectual analysis it is difficult to think of much to add that might be constructive.  Oh well, it was very nice while it lasted.

That’s what she said.

I’ll give Arry a few more games – if the wins don’t come back over the next three games you’ll be hearing “Arry Redknapp, we want you to go” ringing round WHL in April!
The mark of a man’s character ( and a team’s in this context)is not how they behave when things are going well, but how they they respond when they’re not. Has Arry got the wherewithall to manage the pressure at the very top? We’re just about to find out……

    • Harry Hotspur says:

And I think the FA are about to find out as well. It’ll be a first for a manager to go into the England job with people wanting to kill him. Normally happens on the way out…

    • LosLorenzo says:

I’m with you. We’re on a run of dire form, and that may have a lot to do with a distracted manager and/or distracted players. That run has only lasted (results-wise) for three games, though. We own him a bit more time than that before the calls for his head reach fever-pitch.

Question to people who point to our loss of a 9 points vs. the chasing pack in 3 games as evidence that ‘Arry is incompetent. Do you also think Mancini is incompetent and should be sacked? They’ve blown 8 points vs. their closest rival in basically the same span of time, and he/his team don’t even have the distraction of the media incessantly unsettling them with talk of the manager leaving.

      • LLL says:

I agree. Harry has not had too much criticism to deal with since he’s been here, it’s all been pretty much adulation. The sack im crowd should be given short thrift but the general criticism is valid. His track record shows he isn’t at all good at dealing with it. Remember when he came in, we won some games and then hit a bit of a sticky patch again. This was when he started coming out with how he had a ‘hotch-potch’ squad, ‘thrown together’, basically slagging the players off and blaming everyone else.

We 100% do owe him more time. But likewise, he can take the plaudits, so he should be big enough to deal with a bit of stick, more to the point realize when he’s in the wrong. I don’t know if he ultimately has that in him, and if we start winning again regardless we may never really have to find out.

      • SerfCity says:

Hardly just the last three games though. Other than Newcastle, we have really not bossed a game since the start of December. Three months of sub-par play for a team of this quality, and with this opportunity before it, is a sackable offense in my book…

        • LosLorenzo says:

So winning ugly counts for nothing? Then you would have sacked Suralix around January.

        • Phil McAvity says:

Nevermind who got us to third though. ‘Arry knows nothing remember!!

        • MysteriousStranger says:

If a decent horse travels handily in 3rd place for the first 2/3 of a race, and then drops away tamely to finish out of the frame – connections aren’t exactly celebrating or congratulating the trainer/jockey for a 5th placed effort and a minor prize for their troubles.

So Harry’d better finish in the frame. If he doesn’t it could be off-putting enough to the FA to ruin his England ambition, and leave him tethered to us. Lose, lose situation if you ask me.

          P.S. I don’t give a monkeys about “Eng-er-land”.

        • Phil McAvity says:

I agree MS, but the trouble is most on here are already acting like we have dropped to 5th, when the last time I looked we are still 3rd.

Granted that next time I look we could well be 5th the way our results are going at the moment!!

        • Essexian76 says:

What a pity we’re talking about footballers and not the finer aspects of equestrianism..we’ve hit a wall, one game, a bloody awful shambles, the 2nd down to the managers lack of belief and the third rank bad luck and poor team selection..perhaps the manager of your choice would have done better? but there’s ten games to go and many of you are blaming players for being negative and giving up the ghost-yet clearly many of our supposed ‘supporters’ are doing exactly the same!

        • Phil McAvity says:

          Amen to that Essexian.

    A Venn diagram!? You’ve just made my day, H! :freu :-D :-D

  • DessySpur says:

cant disagree with anybody here, 1st half poor 2nd half better but too late and not enough.
They need some motivation and a run of games from VDV, hes a winner for me! great attitude and they need to stick together.
come on FFS now were are in a dog fight and the Goons have come out of the woodwork is perfect for stuffing them back in the ratholes whence they came.
    Passion required here and now!

    • stupot says:

VDV Maybe slowing up but he’s a matchwinner, and a winner in general. AND BY GOD, HE LOVES SPURS. JD to go on one of spurs’ summer junior coaching sessions to learn the effing offside rule. Harry ‘the ego’ bluesleeps is losing the plot. Sandra should pinch him, shout in his ever growing ears ‘ YOU’RE MANAGING SPURS YOU FOOL’And remind him about the stents and blood pressure. The red tops will murder you H. CONCENTRATE ON THE PRESTIGIOUS JOB IN HAND, BECOME A GREAT AT WHITE HART LANE AND LET ANOTHER MUG MANAGE THE LAMPARD/GERRARD/RIO/TERRY FALIURE CIRCUS. Harry, you’re not THAT good. England squad are ego wankers, we all know that.

  • kojac says:

aarrgh!,lost to the toffes too,i mean we deserved a draw but as we know, you don’t blah, blah,in all honestly i did not think we would not get a single point out of utd, arse & everton,

i think we need to lay off bale a bit he is a game changer, more importantly i don’t understand why modric isn’t in the middle with the team built around that, its like scholes on the left for england, can you see fergie playing luka on the left,he’d have wingers out wide, having parker being where modric should be further up the middle is very annoying for me,
i also hear things about our squad and wonder why
we weaken it in the most important window in modern times for us,

as unlikekev mentioned the 21 win game level we need to get to for CL football will be tested now,do i think we will get 5 more wins, yes i do,do i think we will lose more games this season, most certainly, from being totally over confident we have gone to serious self doubters in 3 games, this is what managers get paid alot of money for,if we were to lose out on CL football from where we were, redknapp would have to be very worried about his job if you ask me

  • charleycroker says:

That venn diagram is probably used by HR on the tactics board prior to kick off.
