The Player Ratings, Just As They Ever Were…

Welcome to the player ratings.

Apologies to the purists that had their blogging routine disrupted by the whole Uncle Woy business. But that’s the business we call ‘show’. Here’s my assessment of the runners and riders.

And my thanks to Aaron ‘The Baker’, with whom I watched the game. I hope your Tipana was as delicious as you described it although chicken livers and me have never been close friends. One more goal and we’d have brought William Hill to it’s knees.

 7.001 Clean sheet

7.002 Bless him, his children and all his relations past and present for that goal. His performance otherwise was less blessing worthy.

6.009 Hardly troubled by the world’s greatest attacking forces.

 6.000 Hammerfoot the movie.

4.999 Daft as a brush. Good job this was Blackburn.

5.999 Another flattering to deceive gig. Fizzed, popped but never really hurt a thoroughly second/third rate side.

9.100 Oh yeah baby. Good in all sorts of ways. More please…

7.000 Kind of alright. Against garbage like this I expected more. If I’m allowed to be honest.

5.888  ‘He plays on the left’, why does he feel that this is such a second class gig? Who cares? Somebody needs to manage him or ship him out.

6.999 He’s a gift. Our manager appears to ‘indulge him’ somewhat. There’s a quote about that sort of thing, if my memory serves me right…

6.777 Disappointing a good few times again but it’s tough to fall out of love with such a selfless player.

As the marketing chaps will tell you – it’s not the first sale that’s difficult – it’s the next one.
I’ll let you know if corners have been turned, managers have learned lessons, players have recognised the role they play, CL places are likely to be secured etc etc after we’ve played at the home of the new religion that is the Reebok.

We were still a little toothless in the final 3rd, it was hard to say whether the general performance was much better, or Blackburn just stood off us. It seemed better. Should we be confident going into Bolton? Not even remotely. I’m praying the Hodgson thing will settle us down. The key thing for me is of the team that started arguably 6 players for one reason or another may feel their futures are linked with Harry. Ade, Bale, Modric, Gallas, Rose, Friedel (+ club captain Ledley). I hope and pray this settles us down. Final thoughts on Harry, there’s nobody amazing and proven better – so despite his faults, and there are many – without these distractions I’d let his contract run down next season, and let the blighter make it up to us if he wants an extension. Also our best chance to re-sign Bale and Modders. New training ground, stadium, and increased wage budget could do the trick.

The acid test will be that wether Redknapp can keep our better players having qualified for the CL.
I just hope we dont recruit managers in the same way we buy players..that is my worry.

I agree, narked as I am by HRs self serving rhetoric, let us allow pragmatism to prevail. I say Levy keeps Harry in place for 1 more season on probation, and seek to tie down Modric, Bale, Ade. If they sign, extend his contract by a year. If it’s clear they won’t sign improved terms to play for him, then we consider our options. I’m not convinced that any of the names mooted would be an improvement. Whatever happens, it has to be the right man to spend our money wisely. We’re not a club that can afford to get it wrong. We can’t stand for another window of bemoaning how we “can’t compete for Tevez, Hulk, Hazard” etc whilst Newcastle and Everton continue to sign goalscorers on the cheap.

the fact that blackburn did not attack us it is hard to judge if anyone was any good,to me sandro and lennon were the best players, being a lennon fan i was pleased to have him back,if only he had finsihed off that great run, personally i’m happy with lennon and walker on the right as i am with bae and bale on the left,i’d prefer modric and sandro, kaboom and gallas and vdv and adebayor for the last 3 games, the wingers take some flack but most of our goals come from lennon, bale carnage as our first goal did yesterday, anyway bolton away is more of a test to see where we are,

i don’t agree with arry’s postmatch about apart from norwich our form is good,if he thinks that then why not sack him,our form is terrible

and so hodgson is in talks,i thought hodgson had a clause in his contract he can talk to the fa if they came, maybe the FA didn’t want to derail WBA and it was the media that jumped on the redknapp wagon,i don’t know why some of you are saying the FA have deliberately sabotaged our season levy and redknapp did that with the ins and outs of jan,we let players go who could have filled in,when you see some of benches since feb,

i thought the media were never wrong so are they still 100% redknapp is getting the england job,i always thought it was between woy & arry anyway, both decent choices for england,

i mentioned yesterday about the cross eyed sequence of arry not going and us getting 4th,it would split this blog wouldn’t it,i will stick to my guns,if you qualify THFC for europe you get to keep your job and seeing as we will be top 6 whatever,Harry has earn’t his next season which is how i see things anyway,

this time next year rodders & COYS
