Brazilliant! Analysis & Ratings

Good morning.

At last something to be passionate about in a positive sense. Bolton was never going to be a straightforward gig but this was a game where the gulf in class thankfully shone through.

Any that were permanently seeing a cloud over Adebayor’s head must surely feel slightly more optimistic about him. 31 games now that have generated 15 goals plus 4 denied by insane officiating. His unselfish play is a delight. His wages must come in under budget, but we must get a deal done.

Sandro is clearly beginning to flourish. It’s essential that he’s kept on the boil over the break. He plays fearlessly, tempered with reason. The beauty is, he compliments Parker. There’s no need to get bogged down in a, ‘which one do we play’ debate. They have much in common but offer different riches. It’s important that they are thought of in this way.

By contrast, Bale would give an aspirin a headache.

I’ve used the phrase before, but he clearly has decided that things like tackling and defending in general are things that,’ happen to other people’. It’s endemic of of our current zero coaching policy that this has been allowed to develop. His entire play revolves around some cartoon fantasy he has in his head whereby he takes a ball, makes a quick release and heads off into a central position so he can get himself cued up for a Hollywood finish.

Look I like the guy, but answer me this; could you see Slur Alex, Pep or Jose encouraging this? Last night in fact he managed to counter balance ‘his vision’ by some great work on the wing. But this is like the lead guitarist in a band suddenly ‘deciding’ one day he wants to be the lead singer.

Bolton are going down and they won’t be missed. If Owen Coyle picks a second row with Joe Jordan he’ll need more than the power of prayer to save him.

7.000That Gomes style double punch wasn’t clever but otherwise he would’ve breezed any 11+ in the country ….just as long as they didn’t have any questions about coming off his line for crosses.

4.090Daft as a brush and I remain unconvinced if he’s as useful as one. He’s primarily an athlete, not a footballer.

7.234If he should get the last remnants of Davis’ DNA washed off him after a week or two with some intense loofa action.

6.234 He was outfoxed by Petrov maybe twice. His defending makes me nervous. His forward runs may excite 200m fans, but he frequently only clutters up Azza’s space.

6.235 Not outstanding. But then a mistake free shift isn’t a bad shift. Should’ve had a penalty awarded for the ABH from Wheater.

8.222 Simply Brazilliant. Just as well given Bale and Modric spent much of the game acting like a pair of freeloaders. More please.

7.100 Stellar goal. But he failed to achieve the sort of grip on this game you might expect. Not looking like a £40m player when not scoring stellar goals.

6.888 Unconvincing display largely due to lack of service. A few forays but when Bale and Kyle encroached he went invisible.

6.607 Sorely needs coaching. Rapidly becoming a self indulgent tart. Tackling? Playing for others? These are clearly beneath him these days.

8.322 Wow. Some delicious passes and always looking to play for others. Class act. More please.

8.432 Gave it everything and a one of his best showings in the shirt. So pleased he got his goals. Loved the celebration for the first one.

I dont know why people are getting so excited by Cisse’s goal. These people have obviously never played sensible soccer.

I scored a thousand goals exactly like that.

    • robbie says:

Don’t you wish we had of signed him!!

      • jolsgonemental says:

there are alot of players who have moved over the last couple of transfer windows who I had wished we had signed.

Saha and Nelsen arent two of them.

      • LosLorenzo says:

We were saying the same about Ba a few months ago. When was the last time he scored again?

    • Hartley says:

Doesn’t really do it for me…especially at £175k a week. Don’t get me wrong he is the best we have and 1000% better than the last lanky streak of shite we had but that could be the reason why so many on here think he’s the dogs b*llox.
Can you imagine if we had a striker with a half decent first touch who could also score goals…..Cisse, Jelavic or maybe both with Defoe and Pienaar going the other way…

      • Hartley says:

        @johnhalloween 10.11

        • johnhalloween says:

hes not perfect but a massive improvement on defoe and previous others. He’s rejuvenated our forward play. I agree his wages are exorbitant

      • Simon says:

The trouble with Adebayor seems to be his motivation. When he is ‘on’ he is brilliant, but at other times he doesn’t seem interested.

Can’t see Newcastle letting Cisse leave except for a ridiculous amount of money. Maybe Demba Ba is available as he seems to be completely overshadowed at the moment.

Dont you think Shity have a say how Ady plays they are paying him more than we are. The big problem now is we have a player wanted by Shity and one they own this does not make me confident of finishing fourth or better.

Which lanky streak of shite would that be Hart’s…The Russian or the Pole?

      • Parklaner says:

City will look to spend again – must mean Dzeko won’t get much playing time, He’s hardly playing now. I reckon he’s worth a cheeky bid

    • kojac says:

sensible soccer, run straight and bend it in the top corner, good days

    • Antmoorwood says:

SENSIBLE SOCCER!! Now that bring a few memorys back. Used to spend hours with me mates on the amiga playing that! You right, but I could only score those curlers when playing ‘up’ the pitch!!
      :-)

  • Lilywhites says:

More of the same in the next two matches plz.

  • TonyRich says:

Not sure about what unconvinced you about Lennon’s performance…. He was great and opened up the game for Bale and Vdv to exploit. He certainly played better than Modric, and at least on par with VDV, Ade and Sandro.

    • LLL says:

Agree, Lennon again proved how important to us when it comes to the simple business of beating teams

    • Frontwheel 2 says:

Totally agree, and he got himself in great positions only to see the ball go elsewhere or lost through showboating tartery.

    • Billys boots says:

i thought Lennon was a major reason for the win, teams are so scared of him it opens us space for

“VDV 8.322 Wow. Some delicious passes and always looking to play for others. Class act. More please.”

have to agree with Danny Rose, he showed us why HR never rotated BAE.

  • billybob says:

Agree with 9 of your 11 ratings but your scores for adebayor and modric are laughable. I think this was one of adebayor’s worst performances in a spurs shirt. Yes he scored 2 goals and yes any of the other spurs strikers since berbatov would not have scored the second goal. But he looked lazy, disinterested and demotivated, he didn’t chase down balls, misplaced pass after pass and consistently failed to make the runs VDV and modric wanted him to make.

Modric in contrast was the key reason why we won yesterday. He was without doubt the best player in a spurs shirt and completely dictated our tempo and everything good that we did. I agree Sandro was good but it was Modric who bossed the midfield

    • CLaw says:

Not sure I agree with Modric as MOTM over Sandro, close call that one.

I do TOTALLY agree with you about Ade. He looked bored and there were a couple of occassions he messed up promising attacks and he contributed little until he scored his first. Did step up a bit after that.

      • simon says:

completely agree, modric bossed the midfield, fantastic pass for lennon to cross for adebayor! also agree about adebayor, the guy doesn’t contribute enough goals, if he could finish he would have 25 league goals, his goals against liverpool were great, but other than that, they have all been fairly simple! i do like adebayor, but if we are gonna spend big on signing him and pay big wages, we can definitely do better! if we get champ league, how about a cheeky bid for falcao, athletico madrid arent great, and wont get champ league!
cannot believe you gave lennon bad ratings, the guy ripped ricketts apart, him and bale were very dangerous!
        SANDRO IS A BEAST

  • Michael says:

Do we have any one else who can play at left back?

    • johnhalloween says:

there is a girl who works in the canteen wiping down tables who has a magic left foot and bags of pace. Shame her right one can’t do card trick though.

      • hoofing says:

        Can she defend though?

I agree that Bale needs to tighten up his awareness towards defensive commitments but when an opposing team counter attacks after a move by Bale down has broken down…..sometimes its a little diffilcult to get back.

I would of given Modric the same score heights as Sandro, VDV and Ade.

I think bar injuries the the same team (have a think about Rose) should feature against the villians. All in All one step beyond the Blue Racists.

    • SerfCity says:

I remember we played some Welshman at LB from time to time…

    • Heath Spur says:

Wigan’s left back is available on a free in the summer (Figueroia). Would be decent back up for BAE. Not much help for the last 2 games though. We could loan Rose out for the season.
