Levy & Co. Leave Arry Out Of The Loop

Good morning fight fans.

Fascinating development in the Jan Vertonghen mini saga as the player has let slip that it’s Spurs that are closest to landing him.

What’s fascinating is that it’s now clear that Arry is not involved in the deal. Only a day or two ago our tight lipped supremo said,

“He is a good player, a player I have looked at and watched, I think there are a lot of clubs interested in him though. So, that is all.

“We haven’t gone anywhere with it. We haven’t spoken to the club. He is just a player I have watched, along with a lot of other players.”

But now Jan himself has said,

“Of course I want Ajax to become financially better, but the amount Tottenham are willing to pay, maybe with a little bit extra, is very reasonable.

“In a year from now I could leave the club for free. I hope Ajax are aware of it as the situation of Maarten Stekelenburg’s transfer was very harsh.

He only arrived at the end of pre-season at AS Roma. I want to flow in fluently, directly with the other Spurs players.

“Tottenham is a fantastic traditional club who play football in a way I like. Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players.”

I’ve been banging the ‘buy a centre back drum’ for some time. This guy would be absolutely perfect and we need to cough up and sign him. Signing Vertonghen would demonstrate to the likes of Modric that we meant business.

Let’s hope Levy & Co. can pull it off!

Some pretty amazing suggestions as a replacement for HR Runaboutenstuff; frankly the idea of the current manager of any club below us with the possible exception of MON, is no less absurd than Gardi or Jose.

I have no problem with keeping the floppy chopped one, but I know what his motivations are and I assunme that Daniel Levy does, even if he didn’t before. So we have a egotistic mercenary at the helm; if we can improve on him then we should, but in the meantime lets use him the way he does us.

I like the rumours I’m hearing about Vertonghen; this is an important and key signing for us if we can make it happen. It addresses the gap in the defence, allows us to move on Ledders and either Billy, Bassong or both. It also seems to be happening early enough that we can get him fitted into the squad with time to settle.

It says we are serious about strengthening the squad and that in itself will help negotiations for other players we want to bring on board.

Lastly it’s a wake up for Droopy that its his boss that calls the shots!

It’s interestin ey? Especially after quotes like “they tell me sandro is a good player tho I never seen him”..got him. “Levy rang me to tell me we had bought VDV” got him too. It’s the players arry does make decisions about that worries me..”i’ve always thought nelson was a good player” wtf. “Danny rose is a good little footballer” muppet. “Saha is a real pro”..I made that up coz I couldn’t remember what he said, but that’s what you normally hear when you sign an old fart.

Vertonghen: a bloody good player. well worth having.
Harry: reached the pinnacle of his career, unfortunately not high enough for us.
