Good morning pop pickers.

And the hits just keep on coming. The Loic Remy piece of yesterday appears to have legs as a French journo, Matt Spiro who writes for Ligue.1.com has revealed that…

Marseille have told Loic Remy to cancel his planned visit to Spurs’ training ground this week. They want to agree fee with #THFC first

This positively reaffirms the idea that we are ‘properly’ in for the player, but it also rather comically might indicate that they’ve just found out who our chairman is and want to get all the money side of things nailed before their boy starts choosing this coat peg.

Elsewhere, if you haven’t seen it then the Blackburn boss is the unwitting star of a covertly shot mobile phone video that is said to have been shot in a bar in Hong Kong while Rovers were doing their preseason. The clip is here. The interesting bit is where he’s asked about Sam Allardyche. He swiftly repsonds, “Because he’s a f*cking crook.”

remy will be a mistake….he isnt even an out and out striker….is not prolific and vastly overpriced….why is it he has been scouted many times by various european clubs and at 25yrs old nobody has made a move for him??? he sounds like a dos santos. can play across a front 3 but isnt a prolific striker. well if thats what were after, why not give dos santos a proper crack at the whip instead of paying a ridiculous amount for remy? sorry but when you start hitting the 20mil bracket you want a goal machine

    • Harrys Boy says:

Goal machine????……if you want one of those then that’s mega bucks. That leaves City, United and the Chavs. Spurs won’t pay the money.

      • cartel says:

rossi? huntlaar? even the brazilian lad damiao? all would be a better bet than remy i think…if were after a striker then buy a striker! if its a wide player then get a wide player, to often we see in the game, players who can supposedly do both…and they do….just not either very well

    • Devonshirespur says:

we cannot fish in the goal-machine pond. You need to offer £120k a week minimum to be allowed near it.

We need to rely goal scorers across our whole front line…Bale 10, Defoe 11 Ade 17, VDV 11. Not many teams can boast that sort of spread of goals except maybe City & Utd.

If Remy added 15 goals, and offered a different tactical approach (433/4231) then he is worth the money. He is fast and pretty good in the air and play down the middle or from wide. Sounds like Defoe Version 2.1

Also, don’t believe the figures that the press quote….Levy will do a deal

      • Harry Hotspur says:

        I think that’s a very accurate analysis.

Starting prices for ‘goal machines’ are indeed that high and our ‘spread’ of goals has in many ways has almost benefited us enough to compensate for not having one ‘hot shot’ like RVP.

It emphasises what a crying shame that Dos Santos wasn’t given a decent run by Arry…

      • MysteriousStranger says:

Does anyone doubt Levy will (try to) do a deal? :silly:

      • Alspur says:

Much more skilful than Defoe (and less prolific, I would guess…)

  • bobbydaz says:

I would have to agree with some that although Remy is good with his head he is no way a target man who can hold the ball up, much more likely to be on the right side of a three man attacking line or on the wing.

Was very suprised to hear That Huntelaar and Giroud both have only a Year remaining on thier contracts. Surely deals that sound right up Levy’s street. Another a player who setting things alight atm and worth a mention is Giovonco who part owned by Juve/Parma had an amazing finish to the season and could be a good shout for italy in the Euros, again by no means a targetman but more in the Rossi mold who can play anywhere up top.

  • Sid Trotter says:

    I like Remy, Martin.

    Martin, are you there?

    • Jol 5:5 says:

In the biography Jol says he expects to be back at WHL one day ….when the present owners are gone. In the meantime I like the idea of Remy to Fulham.
Can we get Olic….maka Luka happy…a forward he can pick out with all of our big % possession?

      • daytripper11 says:

Olic would make a great backup striker. He is much in the Dirk Kuyt mold, a tireless worker up front that leaves it all out on the pitch.

  • Neil says:

We would sign remy for the right wing as we were screwed when azza was out, and another striker. Levy still hasn’t broken the 20m barrier and would be surprised if this was the player to do that.

  • LLL says:

I don’t know much about him but I can bet I share that in common with Redknapp and in the knowledge that he almost certainly isn’t Redknapp’s signing makes me optimistic at least.

Because lets face it, I’d rather another Sandro or VDV than a Nelsen or Crouch,
