To All The Brain Surgeons Happy Finishing Fourth

Wotcha.

I keep reading comments from awfully well meaning types this morning saying that at the beginning of the season they would have taken fourth.

Wow. How noble. But more to the point, what a really odd thing to say.

In isolation, finishing fourth is a good thing – no; an excellent thing. Champions League football and peck on the cheek from the Prom Queen. So what if another team outside the top four wins the Champions League and nudges us out? What are the odds?! You can’t legislate for crazy, madcap things like that happening. Can you?

Well you can.

Because this finish wasn’t in isolation to anything. To assert otherwise is insane. Not optimistic, not naive but just common or garden bonkers.

Given that Spurs weren’t struck down with any season wrecking injuries or suddenly faced teams that revolutionised football the flushing of the 10+ point advantage is why we’re all now nervously making pro Bayern noises.

Some of you can’t cope with the reality of the situation. You’re the same lemmings that haven’t noticed that since he’s run out of exit doors that Arry has started calling us, ‘us’ again and not referring to us in the third person.

What happened to this Club this season is nothing shy of scandalous.

And now we have the rogue playing the health card as many do when they’ve run of legitimate reasons why people should bother paying them any attention.  He’s saying he might not got to the Euros with the BBC because of his trials and tribulations. Ooh my heart, ooh me tax case. Ooh naff off you chancer.

“I want Bayern to beat Chelsea, whether Frank plays or not.

“He knows there’s no love lost. My allegiance is Tottenham only. I want Tottenham in the Champions League next year.

Err…

“I’ll be rooting for Chelsea I want to see an English team win it anyway and I think they can do it.”

Arry Redschnapps April 21st 2012

“If people get carried away with what Tottenham should achieve, they need a reality check.”

Arry, the only reality check people want is the THFC Board to replace you with one of those orange Keepon things off the EDF advert …or something equally competent.

LOL at any of you plonkers thinking we have any self righteous entitlement to finish any higher than fourth. Our first team cost £55m to assemble, we pay a third less top wage than our nearest rivals and a lot less than the rest.

Everyone wants to aim higher, and we are improving…we finished higher than we did last season, perhaps next season we can finish higher again. When we have regular champions league football and a new stadium, we can pay higher wages, attract better players, and perhaps even challenge for the title, for the time being, wake up and enjoy what we’ve got.

If anything we’re overachieving at the moment.

No wonder the rest of the football world sees spurs fans as delusional.

Rubbish post – all we had to do was win an extra game, turn a draw into a win – as little as that and we would have finished above the filth. And not doing so is purely and simply down to Harry – his inept tactical failings, his failure to come out and say he was or was not going, and his dp-nothing attitude. Sack the twat!!!

could say the same about so many things that happened this year out of rHR’s control. Not every point we lost was down to him. Jesus

What about the poor refereeing – giving goals that don’t cross the line, not giving one’s that do, failing to send off thugs like Baotelli – and so it goes on – and all some can do is turn on our own. ‘Triffic.

So well put mate – i have no idea where all of these delusions of grander come from but its fairy tale stuff. Waiting for perfection (and complaining when it doesnt happen) is merely a way of placing a higher value on whats INSIDE YOUR HEAD than what is evident around you.

I dunno. I watched every game this year…most 2 or 3 times and I didn’t see a whole lot of what I would call over-achievement. That label belongs to the Evertons, Swanseas, Norwichs and yes, at least this season, the Man Uniteds of this league. Money’s a factor to be sure, but until we can do something about it, hows about investing in a little guile and desire.

    • Parklaner says:

When you have a 13 point lead, 3rd place for 4+ months and playing some of the best football we’ve seen at the lane in years then, Yes, I think we should expect to finish there.

    • Sam says:

Absolutely agree with you, totten ham is a small club.

  • Epic24 says:

Hearing Harry tell us he loved us all in the post match interview was delicious wasn’t it? Jealous of the Martin Jol sings that were sung no doubt.

  • paxtonyid says:

…and people talk about us throwing away a ten point lead……remember that was handed to us on a plate, by a very below par arsenal having a terrible start to the season. They improved and we faltered. It happens. Only the very very top teams go through a whole season without a bad period, and we’re not a very very top team.

  • Neilos Hotspur says:

There is only one top spot, we are no where near the likes of United and Citeh’ so that was never going to happen. We are near the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle and we achieved more than them this season. We came runners up to a side that has now qualified for the CL 15 times in a row and for that, I feel proud to SUPPORT Tottenham.
If you think you can run a club better, buy a F-ING club and do it, until that day, support the club you say you support or declare yourself as a Spurs Critic and not a supporter. You’re as bad as the Gooners…..

    • UnkleKev says:

I’m feeling pretty lousy as it is; please don’t make me feel even worse by saying we’re on a par with Liverpool…

    • BrusselSpur says:

Being a supporter doesn’t mean that your not allowed to criticise the performance of the team, or the manager for that sake.
as much as I support THFC, I reserve my right to point out that Harry lulled himself into a dream world, telling the obedient media that all was down to “bad luck” and the inability to “break teams down” when we had our horrible spell. And, I reserve my right to point out that Spurs would be better off with another manager and criticise the one that is at our helm now. One example of not only tactical stupidity, but also that his knowledge of maths is limited to say at least, is his comments in the wake of the horrible draw away to Aston Villa, that “everyone who goes down to ten men would be happy with a draw”. With ten men, he refused to let on attacking subs and ended up securing a point instead. For what? We needed a win, how can we be happy with a point? I am no big fan of Defoe’s, but surely he could have been given a go with 15-20 mins left, if Harry wanted to win the game.

      Sack him.

  • Brainsurgeon says:

4th IS a massive let down but I have no doubt that the England manager fiasco absolutely caused at least 1 point dropped. At LEAST 1 unavoidable point dropped which would have actually given us 3rd on goal difference as had we had one more point our goal difference would have pipped Arse’s as well.

But also, even yesterday, Closet Arse fan Fulop – what an effin joke. Looking at those goals, UNBELIEVABLE! How do you punch a ball backwards? And how do you just watch a ball roll slowly in to the path of an oncoming striker to then tap in. As Harry once said of another player: NO WONDER HE’S IN THE FACKIN’ RESERVES! Either that or the small time closet Arse fan has taken a pay check somewhere… Check the stats: Arse only had 3 shots on target. Fulop should issue an apology! NO DOUBT, ANY other keeper even you or me would have meant Spurs would be 3rd this morning and all the debate would have been more along the lines of Phew! got the 3rd we deserved in the end.
