An Ode To The King

So farewell then Ledley Breton King

You gave us your all …your everything.

A callow youth debuted for us in 1996

Was even then a thoroughbred with wily tricks.

Cut from Captain cloth from head to toe

We prayed that you would never go.

But no one knew what was to be

Blighted by that bloody knee.

Your training regime was quite unique

A dozen laps in Levy’s pool – sometimes twice a week.

But this isn’t goodbye old pal, just au revoir

We need you as our Ambassad0r.

Best Premier league defender of all time, bar none. Shame about the injury problems. “King of the Lane “.

  • anto says:

    didnt he retire last year?
hes not fit to lace sol campbells boots.never was.

    • anto why dont you concentrate on what you have now because they are going to need all the help that can muster.
      Its over…wait..it IS NOW.

        The thing with Sol:-

yes he was a great CB, but he was actually a quite poor footballer with the ball at his feet. Strong, fast, positionally good and also in the air.

Now take that template and add being good enough with the ball to play CM and there you have Ledley.

It’s a shame Sol didn’t stay, could you imagine the 2 playing together? We would have finally shored up our leaky defense we struggle so badly with until recent years.

Anyway, as much as I hate him, Sol was a top quality defender. Ledley King without his injuries would have been the stand out for the best defender during the PL years. He would have pushed closer to 500+ apps for spurs (had Real Madrid, Barca or Utd possibly, not come in for him, which would have been likely) and at least 50+ England caps if not closer to 100… He would have been the number 1 choice, it would have been a case of who out of Terry or Ferdinand would have partnered him.

Even your hero Henry admitted it, so can’t see how gooners could possibly disagree. A true captain and a true King.

What a wonderful statement, you must be a very proud little boy…

      Get a grip you numpty.

And why would he want to lace up such smelly stinky dirty warty, gorgonzola smelling, judas boots?

  • Loke says:

True legend; will never be forgotten. If and when he was fit he was absolutely majestic, never seen a better defender in the game. Hope he can coach Caulker and the other kids. Long live the King.

    • anto says:

yea maybe he can teach them the proper way to fake injuries

      • you actually lost him too wasnt that Nasri?
But at least he could kick the ball

        • anto says:

ur losin modric pal.ur only decent player.we will always replace players always have.and always looked down on you season after season no matter who we lost.think bout that.

        • kojac says:

will you just go away, you need to get back home incase the caravan moves on and leaves you behind

        • Because you have literally been a one man team and have nobody left, you want to project that on us.
We can do very well without Modric.
          Our management is much better.
Read what all your fans are saying, dont listen to me.
You just cant stand the negativity on your own sites now can you, thats why you come here.

        • anto says:

one man team? rvp had 1 good season in the last 7 years.not much of a 1 man team is it.that seems to be ur only comeback.

        • It is a one man team. RVP must of realized that nobody could take the Henry/Fabregas role of turning a game occasionally and started to play.
But be truthfully theres not much there now is there.

        • anto says:

          willshere mate.nuff said.

        • Hartley says:

Wilshere ? (it’s only got one ‘licking L’ by the way) Good luck with that one…FFS :freu :freu

        • Lets see what he can do when he has nobody around him but a bunch of also rans

      • Matt says:

        Hahahahahahaahahahhhaaaaa….

Wilshere….. oh god, hahhahaa.. Thanks for that mate, I needed a laugh.

You really are clutching at straws there. Not saying he wont be good / great. Buyt he’s not even proven he’s good enough for England or start for you consistantly for more than a season yet…

VdV isn’t perfect, but 100 odd Dutch caps by 29 shows he’s proven and quality. Wilshere got a long way to go… Can’t even know if he can stay fit yet.

Thierry henry: “I don’t like defenders who hold the shirt, the only defender who doesn’t do that & gets the ball off me still is ledley king”
