Personal Terms Agreed Say French & Italian Media

Good morning.

This might be another ‘Vertonghen’ by the looks of it.

Which is to say that it’s all over bar the fine tuning of the fee. It is important to remember that football player transfers these days are highly complex beasts. And buying or selling with Spurs is not dissimilar to arranging a hire purchase deal on a second hand washing machine.

Lyon goalie Hugo Loris is supposedly happy to get measured up for a Lilywhite shirt with L’Equipe among others suggesting a fee around about the €20m mark.

This would be a super duper addition as the brave new world that the boy Boas is building will almost certainly run what they call in the trade a high line and quite frankly, for all his plus points I’ve seen nippier static caravans than the Bradster.

Why is all this happening so far away from the midnight transfer deadline?

    • Clarkspur says:

Because dithering Harry is busy at the car lot undecided on whether to flog the Rover 1000 or the Ford Anglia…he’d like to keep them both, but sell them both but he has a ‘great buyer’ reputation to protect…

Finally a manager with the bollox to go buy players.

      • Bobbles says:

You appear to be labouring under the misapprehension that this has anything to do with the manager.

        • Clarkspur says:

I’m not labouring with anything, especially mispprehension.

But I will guarantee you, involved in negotiation or not, Levy will not buy without speaking to the Manager, whoever it may be.

        • hk_yod says:

agreed, levy has clearly been holding out for a while and it’s not as if there are any managers that don’t like buying players.

word on the N17 street is Dan Levy, Tim Sherwood and AVB want all major incomings done before we fly out to USA.. good news but means no more sitting in front of Sky Sports news until 12.01am on 1st September waiting to see what 34 year old we are buying

    • LLL says:

Tarnation! Can someone at least get AVB to drive out of the training ground at 11 o clock and wind his window down for the camera?

    • Razspur says:

I have been stockpiling Magners and crisps & popcorn for our Annual “Webuyanyplayer” lock in, do you mean that’s cancelled…..Bloody highlight of the year since 1984.

  • ColneyYid says:

I haven’t been this excited about Tottenham’s signings since we signed Jason Dozzell!

    • Clarkspur says:

Ahhh, finally we find out who it was that got excited about Dozzell! I heard someone did but thought it was the stuff of urban legend… :-D

  • Billys boots says:

Does anyone know how much we got for Pav, Kranky, and Charlie C ? because if we get Lloris that takes our spending to 33/34 mill. ]
We still need to secure two forwards Ade and XYZ, and if Modric goes along with VDV (re todays evening standard)i think two midfielders hopefully Moutinho and this Oscar kid. looking at a £100 mill outgoing!!!! I would think we would need to recoup at least 3/4 of that so the net spend was down to -£25mill.

    • Wiz zee says:

We still have £30 million left in kitty from last two windows, so as yet we haven’t even touched the money that’s come in

    • sheikh352 says:

It’s not just Pav (£8m), Kranky (£5.5m) and Charlie (£6m)…Last year, if I am not mistaken, all we spent on purchases was around £5m, about what we got from Wolves for Jamie O’Hara. On top of that, we have unspent monies from the sales of Keane (£3), Crouchie (£10m) and Sarge (£6m), All in all, that’s around £38.5m unspent from last season and this pre-season, minus the purchases of Siggy and Vertigo (combined £17.5m) That still leaves £21m before Levy puts his hands in his pocket OR we sell Modders and VDV…IF both of them go, that brings the pot up to over £60m, assuming nothing more from Levy. Say £13.5m for Lloris and £10m for Ade (£6m fee and £4m signing on bonus), it still leaves over £37m for the purchases of a triker and Oscar – again, that is assuming Levy won’t stretch to an extra coupl of quid – which I think he WILL, this time. It’s all good. Oh, I forgot, a maximum of £4m for Zeki Fryers, too.

      • Clarkspur says:

Don’t forget the bluey I lent Dan L down the Dog and Duck last weekend…

Blimey man, if Mr Levy is reading your comment (as I read in The Sun he’s always on this site – ergo it must be true) then you could end up with court order being issued for following him around and recording everything he does. :ninja:

      • Jamie says:

I agree more or less, but a few costs will have stacked up. Ade I suspect may have had a loan fee – agents fees for signings coming in will have been a fair chunk – signing on fees for new contracts.

      • Bobbles says:

This fantasy assumes there is a separate pot for transfers that all incoming money from player sales accrues within.

        This sounds unlikely to me..

        • Clarkspur says:

Indeed, who would ever use a pot? Surely it’s a biscuit tin, one of those NatWest piggies or even a bank account.

Pot or not, I think Sheikhs point is that (of late) more has come in than has gone out and it’s a fair lump still left over.

      • astromesmo says:

That was like an episode of Sergeant Bilko.

  • Mike says:

Perhaps Dan the man has finally seen sense or maybe ‘arry was the last minute merchant
