€9M Deal On The Cards (Don’t Worry, It’s Not Chamakh)

Good morning.

Italian media tuttomercatoweb.com lead the way this morning confirming some of the more informed mumbles over here that we’re in for Jack Butland. The Birmingham boy would be great addition. Brad undoubtedly has a part to play but the question marks over just how suited he is to André Villas-Boas’ brave new world are beginning to loom.

It would be a crying shame if Gomes’ career were parked in a cul de sac with us. But what can be done? With the new boss’s clear intention to rotate (opposed to the swiveling of his predecessor) it is hopefully the case that we see him in the Europa. At this rate it could be up front, which might be less surreal an idea than you think as if memory serves me well he started out as a striker. The circle of life, eh?

The Marouane Chamakh on loan piece by our old friend John Cross isn’t worth the steam off our collective effluence.  This smacks to me of a circulation issue. Clearly his wife’s knickers are too tight and it’s affecting the amount of oxygen getting to his brain.

Elsewhere, it is being rumoured on the excellent COYS that some bloke called Emmanuel Adebayor was spotted in The Plough public house in Cuffley where he was reported to be threatening …to play against West Brom.

Early days in the PL season, but it could be that the wind is changing, beginning to blow in a different direction. Two reasons.

First, the upper third/half of the league is becoming more competitive, more evenly matched. We could be seeing the emergence of a top tier of teams like Spurs, Man U, Man C, Chel, Arse, Liv, Newc, Ever, Ful, Sund, and WBA. For sure there will be fewer “easy” games. As per this week-end.

Second, the new FIFA personnel requirements will have a bearing not only on squad membership but also on team/club cohesion. Not just who’s Brit and who is not, but how the group melds into a winning combination. For individuals so to cohere there must be mutual respect and confidence in the leadership, which in themselves require that all understand, i.e. accept, their role and are willing to pull for one another and for the good of the whole.

    Excuse the clichés. IMHO.

I like the way we played against Newcastle once we get use to the new system. and bring some players in its gonna be interesting. I like Hudd but he shouldn’t be tweeting shit like that. That sounds like someone who wants to sabotage shit if he doesn’t get what he wants. He’s been injured for ages ,maybe he’S still looks off the pace (even more then usual)in training maybe HE needs to earn some respect.

      Agree with that.

What about AVB showing him some respect. Let me get this right…… we are keeping Bentley, J…s, Gio, Livermore etal and letting Tom Huddleston go? Why because he is not showing respect? Sorry but we are looking at AVB/Chelsea in rewind.

Because he’s slow and un-fit. There’s really no need for any drama in this situation about a rift, or lack of respect. We have a big squad and there will be players leaving. Huddlestone is talented, but injury prone and out of shape. Makes sense to loan him to a club that will capitalise on his services and possibly bring him back to full fitness in the process.

A loan away from WHL makes perfect sense.

I believe that Hudd himself may agree. One newspaper story detailed his attempts to get 8 weeks playing for some MLS team (San Quentin Clap or San Antonio BellyBusters i think they were called?) inj pre-season.

I do worry about poor old Thudd over there. It could end up rather ‘Man v Food’ couldn’t it.

(Still think he’s the best passer of the ball we’ve had since Hazard’s second spell)

This is how the last week of August will go:
    1. Huddlestone on loan and Dawson sold.
    2. Adebayor in.
    3. One creative midfielder in.
    4. One young player in as investment.

Edin Dzeko has been mooted as a possible alternative to Ade. How would he fit in?

    • BrizzleSpur says:

      Interesting one that one.
I dont understand how it’s an ‘alternative’ as he can’t be much cheaper. It’s great to be linked with a prem proven player, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the idea of him signing for us.

But with the injury to Aguero, would city be happy with only two fit strikers in Tevez and Balloteli for the next month or so?

    • UnkleKev says:

I’d take him. But would he accept a massive pay cut to come here?
