Talks Underway …This Should Be The Catalyst

Good evening.

So what we have here is more fuel to an already unlit fire, some might argue. But Jermain Defoe/and or representatives of said person have been in speaks with Sunderland. Is it done? Who knows? I dread to imagine what figure Levy &Co might have in mind for a very effective penalty box striker but a man that lacks so very much elsewhere in his game.

On paper you’d snap up a Jermain Defoe. Of course you would. He scores goals. But upon even the most casual scrutiny he not only fails to fit the Andrè Villas-Boas template, but he couldn’t regularly sustain a first team place under his all time fan manager.

I won’t be as rude as to dig out Jermain here, as he’s done too many good things for us. But should he ‘hang on in’ then he’s risking the accusation of trading on his ‘He’s a Yiddo’ reputation. Should he move, he’ll get more game time and more goals.

We’d need a replacement, preferably 2, already absolutely 100% done and dusted. Not just lined up, in advanced negotiations or whatever other terms people like to use. If not we would be put in an absolutely horrendous bargaining position trying to agree terms for both the transfer fee and wages of any potential incoming players.

Everyone championing coulibaly have to remember he hasn’t been used once by Avb in pre season with the senior team. Kane is regarded as a better player and I’d be pretty damn worried if he was one of our main strikers next season so don’t think coulibaly is either. Come on guys wake up (so many of us deluded hoping coulibaly is gonna be the new Samuel etoo

I don’t think most of us believe that coulibaly could step in to the first team straight away, but eventually be drafted in on a semi-regular basis. At the end of the day he was brought in because Tottenham believe that he “COULD” possibly become a top quality striker in the mould of an Etoo or a Drogba or whatever! If we don’t believe, then why would we bother putting faith in any young talented players? Some will dissapoint, some will come good and thankfully there are always the ones that will exeed expectations.
Hopefully Coulibally will succeed, he has shown in every game he has played that he may be something special.

      .
You’re quite right MCDB, Coulibaly is the new Bostock.

    • Alspur says:

Kane is regarded as the better player? Are you sure? He’s 19, Coulibaly is 17 – at that age, how can you possibly compare?

The new Bostock – really, some Spurs fans scare me…

    • Hot_Spur says:

Yes he has, he played against Stevenage.

I understand we are also in talks with Nayim. Its not him (na-him) so much as that we now are playing a high defence and also will use a new advanced tactic and thats shooting from the half way line.
We are making the pitch smaller than anyone has ever seen it.

I’ve been sent some interesting news – of course not at all verified so take it as it comes and please don’t shoot the messenger –

Spanish TVE 1 news has just said that Tottenham will accelerate the sale of Modric over the weekend as they have come to an agreement with Bilbao to sign Llorente.

Supposedly things easing up with Adey too. I think he’s seeing the light and is quite happy with himself for being a major pain for Citeh for a while.

Semi on has been achieved, will progress to a full bar on if it actually happens COYS

    • Astro Spur says:

Would be a major coup, doubt it could happen though, but if it did maybe it would explain why we’ve waited this long to sign a striker…Levy magic!

    • Urbane Sturgeon says:

So let me get this right; due to our agreeing terms with Bilbao and llorente, Levy has decided to accept far less money than he wanted from Madrid or Madrid have – in support of Levy’s hard bargaining – decided to finally offer the 40 mil we’ve been holding out for?

Looks like Spain suffers from the same attention seeking sports media that we do. Wait til the Olympics officially finish, it’s gonna get really silly.

      • Woody Green says:

The Modric deal would be £40M + his wages say £150k a week over 4 years = £30m. £70 million for a player who won’t sell that many Madrid shirts worldwide. So say they’re offering us £25m – if Modric really wants to play for his dream team he can agree to £75K a week and this saves Madrid the £15m shortfall in the fee. I somehow think this won’t happen.Bale is our new number 9 isn’t he?

      • Clarkspur says:

On the face of it, despite me ‘passing’ that on, it would seem to be flawed at a few levels –

1, as you say, buying another expensive player doesn’t turn 30 into 40, so there are some basics not covered there.

2, Ratboy is a midfielder and Llorente is a striker, so it’s not like we are swapping like for like.

But, who knows, maybe in Levy’s mind he’s thinking about the fans and the impact of selling one good player without having some very good news to appease the groans? Anyway, to shoot that idea down, Levy’s cannot be that fussed about the fans if we find ourselves with Kane and Defoe as our only strikers with just 6 days to go till KO. =/

Hmm..I wonder if HR would have told Mo Farah to “run about a bit”?
