Good afternoon.

Three snippets from the foreign press to explain if not excuse, the near complete and utter lack of success in the transfer market by Barter & Droppit Enfield Ltd t/a THFC.

“I feel sorry for Adebayor because he has no chance at City, has no chance of playing here this season. So it is important that you can find a good solution,”

The above from Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini who was talking to a.bola.pt about the impasse on the Emmanual Adebayor fiasco. A.bola say that the actual transfer fee agreed between City and Spurs was €7M, but Ade then decided he wanted to up his wage demand.

“It is not true that there is an agreement with Liverpool. The only concrete offer was made by Tottenham, which proposed 16 million euros for the player.

The transfer did not materialize because they offered a very low salary. It may be that re-express interest if Modric exit. Inter are also interested but not able to match bids from Premier League clubs, “

The above from Oscar Betancourt speaking to Calciomercatoweb.it

And finally we’ve apparently made a bid for Yan M’Vila, which of course will also be pointless if we can’t match the boy’s Mickey Mouse wage demands… from lequipe.fr…

Yann M’Vila Rennes hopes to sell by the end of the transfer window.

Things seem to be accelerating in recent hours. Monday morning, 10 o’clock, the Breton leaders have received an offer of 15 million euros for their midfielder. She comes from London, specifically Tottenham. It is not suitable to the wishes of the Britons who hope 20 million euros. But the club’s financial situation might change their minds

Sorry if this is a bit nerdy but…What’s really annoying is that for buying from European clubs the exchange rate is really good for us at the moment – players we buy from overseas will be much better value this summer than last. A €10m player is £900,000 cheaper this summer.
Sadly good players cost lots of money – we aren’t really going to improve our first team with players who cost less than £10m – are players who cost £20m + guaranteed to be great? No – but I think we still need to take a punt and make a statement of intent by signing a superstar striker. If only that guy who just won £148m was a spurs fan!

Not sure about this one, unless were playing with no strikers. A little side note for all the UK supporters though, here in Canada I was down at our big sports retail outlet called Sportschek. As usually they have the new Utd, Barcelona, etc kits but for the first time ever they had both the home and away Spurs kits. This is actually pretty incredible considering I’ve always had to order my kits online, and really speaks to the value of this new Under Armour kit deal. Nice to see us really breaking ground globally.

We need to sign Ade most def because I cant see us finding another targetman who can do what Ade does and score 20 plus a season without spending crazy money. There is a bigger variety in finding a skillful quick winger/striker.Who could get 12/15 a season to rotate with Bale and Lennon thoughout Portugal,France,Germany,Italian league. We could spend up to 12 mill on this player.Along with a keeper I dont know who.Modrics replacement is intresting I like Mountinho but not for 30m. 20s ok. I feel the guy would adapt to Epl quicker then modric did and he’s got leadership qualities a good guy to have around.People say there isnt but there are quite a few realistic options in the Modric replacement out there.
