I’m told negotiations have been ongoing for about a week and where we’re at is that as of this evening a loan could be done, but we would prefer to buy the Second Hand Fridge frontman.
How do I feel about this? Thank you for asking. I think he’s good stuff. the interesting dynamic here is as per André Villas-Boas, the Team GB boy has plenty to prove and where better to do it than in the Lilywhite.
Sturridge at virtually any other Premier League outfit would be a first choice, first team regular. But having £50m quids worth of chairman’s darling in front of you can hold even the most dedicated of chaps back.
I recall the old Jackie Mason line, ‘at 20 Jewish women want a doctor or a lawyer! But by 35, they’ll marry a chair‘ and the fear of being linked with every piece of striking driftwood come the last half hour of the transfer window is the fear that urks all Spurs fans right now.
Time is running out but I think it would be a cheap shot to look at Sturridge as if he were a chair. He’s not perhaps in the same excitement bracket as some of the names we’ve been linked with for some, but I’d be very happy to ship him in. He knows the league, he knows Villas-Boas and he knows that he won’t get a better opportunity to really fly than this.
Eugh.. sturridge and defoe our strike force. Average! Well above average obviously. But not great.

I’m honestly never that negative. But right now… we’ve got a team that will come 5th, 6th or 7th.
Apart from Bale and VDV we have no world class attackers. And Bale is a bit hot and cold.. I think he’ll be excellent this season though. VDV is quality.. but doesn’t last a whole game. Sigi.. not the answer.
Honestly.. we are not very good at the moment.

If VDV’s world class, then Rooney or Van Rapist must out of this solar system, he’s not even Tottenham class!
VDV has carried thigh strains and Hamstrings for 8 years now, if he was a horse he would have been put down years ago.
Love some of his touches and a good shot on him, inventive enough to get a shot in from any difficult angle but he can’t keep up and the lungs go after 20 mins no point in flogging a dead horse.

what we really need to do is sell modric as soon as possible, even for 30 million would be plenty to dip into the market to buy damiao/llorente as well as sturridge. this would give us a good variety of forwards to choose from, defoe, sturridge, damiao/llorente and giovanni dos santos. then we also have the youths who could easily fill in the gaps with tom carroll who impressed me so much in the europa last season filling in for toddlers and harry Kate should be given a good chance once again. Bring on top 3 atleast!

Wouldn’t mind Sturridge, Adebayor and DeFoe as our attacking trio. Sturridge is not quite the finished article – but is a good prospect. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a good striker that wasn’t driven by how many goals he could score.
Can’t see how we can expect to sign the top top strikers without being in the Champions League or offering top top wages.Leandro Damiao is an ongoing pipedream we couldn’t sign him when no one knew who he was. Now he’s in Europe and scoring goals for Brazil he’s ours ? AVB and DL are apparently planning a charm offensive – the mind boggles.
