Lazio Chalkboard

Good afternoon.

The first thing that crosses my mind is that is AVB was still in charge at Second Hand Fridge that this morning’s papers would be awash with pundits, journos and other assorted intellectuals doing passable impressions of hyenas on heat. Funny old game Saint.

At five minutes past eight BST this evening we play Lazio in the Europa cup, then. Other Premier League compatriots playing tonight are Newcastle who are away at MarĂtimo and Liverpool who travel to Young Boys. My thoughts are that I don’t really care what occurs with Toon, but would delight in Bredan Rodgers heading back to Merseyside feeling like a condemned man.

I’d argue that it’s impossible to think of Lazio for any Spurs fan and not think of Gazza. And enjoy a small smile. So many Gazza tales. Many apocryphal, most quite true. Nice to see the Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic has spoken kindly and extended a personal invitation to Paul to attend the return leg at the Stadio Plimpico.

So how will we line up? Well, the clues are in the quote from the boss.

‘Rotation will come further down the line. At the moment the players aren’t tired so I think it’s important to keep them playing to continue this series of good performances. For now the players who are playing well will continue.’

Adebayor is out, but to be frank I wouldn’t have played him anyway. Defoe is in form, the style of his game doesn’t leave him suffering from physical exhaustion after each match so it would be nonsensical, not to say cruel to leave him out. I want to see Dempsey play alongside Defoe and it would be cool to give Lloris his first game.

Prediction. We win by a single goal, but it would be amazing if The Lane was rocking from the off and really got behind the manager, the team, the whole shebang. If this happens then we could, despite Lazio being a decent outfit cause some real damage.

Booing, grumbling, selective booing and generally wasting a seat that could have been occupied by someone who was up for supporting the Lilywhites isn’t on. If I could I’d wander about handing out bans to home fans who believe the price of admission allows them to act like the people in the away section.

gotta say strachan and fowler spoke a lot of sense tonight on itv4.
thought we played well, lazio were delighted with the point. some pwopa norty ultras in their end, sergio tachini, designer flat caps, couldnt be more cliched if they tried. if the monkey chants are true then expect a 50 euro fine from uefa.

in real life we beat them about 2=0,we did well against an Italian team playing stereotype Italian football.they even cynically took turns to take out our players and get rotating yellow cards and they were extremely lucky playing the offside.lucky to have 11 on the pitch by the end. I reckon we will do em at their gaff.On todays showing with the players playing well as a team we have a great squad ,ade not played yet.well pleased with all our signings,We are going to be extremely hard to beat as the season progresses
top top effort and triffic progress with a great bunch of good lads really, for sure, good banter on the hhh and very good adaption of the floyd, pwoper qwality, derek and clive reincarnated. :daumen:

    I thought we were solid.Quality.
Lloris looked supreme. Not much to do but you could see he oozes quality.
Everybofy else was good and we played a solid game.Confident.Steady.

    We couldnt penetrate though.
A Drogba type was needed to muscle in there.

Defoe was totally ineffective as he needs space and he only had some on the wing but we needed a box player.

Many Kudos to Sandro for a fantastic. He doesnt give a fuck who he is playing he give 1000% per cent.

Maybe Huddlestone could have offered something other than the 18000 short passes.

I know it was difficult. They were hard to penetrate.

Anyway I was happy about our performance but not so much about the score.

Hard to beat team + OFFICIALS,we penetrated three times,Melcyid has it nailed on for me.

I know what you mean Ronnie, we had no plan B with Ade injured.
Dempsey is not a natural centre forward and the fact we only have Ade and Defoe to play that position is going to hurt us when one of them is injured.
It is a shame because it could hold us back but we are moving in the right direction and I think Dembele is going to be a legend for us.

What annoyed me was nearly a jacks for a hotdog with no onions or ketchup on offer
