Faith: A Condemned Prisoner Requesting A Doggy Bag During His Last Meal

Good afternoon.

I’m struggling to get my head around where the boss is heading with this whole Adebayor business. Now clearly I write this from the perspective of someone who believes Adebayor to be a superior player to Defoe.

…at the moment we’re using one striker and Defoe is doing extremely well. At the moment, Adebayor is in contention for games where we play two strikers. He’s done extremely well in the games that he has come on but we have not found comfort in a formation with two strikers yet.

Villas-Boas oversaw this transfer. It was so – on – then off – then back on again – that it would be ambitious to suggest he didn’t have the opportunity to halt it. Also, there is this whole extraordinarily in depth scouting business. It’s really difficult to argue that once Ade eventually showed up for training that smiles suddenly turned into frowns. AVB must have known what he was buying.

Adebayor is not only a superior player of unquestionable human dimensions but he’s also not cheap. This isn’t like having Livermore sometimes getting a game, sometimes not. At least we now now that it isn’t a hamstring, it’s a tactical choice – but why Ade doesn’t fit the system is something I’m struggling to see.

I’ve great faith in the boss. But this does leave me really puzzled.

AVB has made a mistake here and we are not anywhere near as good a team without Bale, especially with key players out.Hope this does not come back to haunt us tonight COYS.

If we can’t beat this lot without Bale, then there isn’t much point in continuing to take the competition seriously.

Paul Miller was on TalkShite implying that Adebayor’s ‘injury’ is BS, and that he couldn’t be arsed to travel.

We’re stuck with Defoe until VB realises that he isn’t up to the job. By that time Adebayor will have chucked everything out the pram. Get rid of the pair of them in January and bring in Huntelaar and one other.

I have read some of these comments and am absolutely baffled. Did any of you actually watch Ade last season or even his appearances this season. He even admitted it himself. He no longer considers himself an out and out striker. He prefers to be the setup man. To watch him as the main forward is a very frustrating experience. He does great work outside of the box, but does not want the ball or the responsibility when he is in the box. He lays it off or runs away from the play. At one point last season he went 5 complete games without attempting a shot! Under ‘arry he was guaranteed a spot no matter how he performed. He scored 17 goals last year because he was the main penalty taker and got a few easy unmissable tap ins. If he was the same ruthless scowling striker he was at the arse I would have no problem with him. He is now Mr nice guy, joking around with the opposition before and during games. If he was as good as he used to be don’t you think other TOP teams would have come in for him? He can play behind the main striker but not as the main target man!
