Chelsea Fan Threw Black Steward At Mexican

Good morning.

Chelsea fans have a proud history of racism. I say proud because when something as rotten and miserable as race hate is associated with such a significant number of a group then it’s pretty obvious they aren’t actually resisting the association, rather embracing it.

For those seeking to contest this assertion then I could supply a full list but I was planning to get a few other things done this week. But to whet your appetite here’s some a couple of recent examples. Please note in the interests of fairness I have discounted the fact that John Terry is a Chelsea fan.

June 2012: Danny Townsend-Bird filmed himself on his iPhone at 2 separet Chelsea games screaming racist abuse including ‘f___ c___ spick’ plus footage of him shouting racial abuse at an Asian driver while riding in the back of a taxi on the way to a match including ‘f___ p__ c__.’ Mr Townsend-Bird received a 5 year ban.

April 2012: Stephen Fitzwater (a Chelsea fan) admitted shouting racial abuse at Didier Drogba during the FA Cup semi final against Tottenham. Mr Fitzwater was banned from Stamford Bridge for life.

So why drag this up?

On Sunday at Stamford Bridge after Javier Hernández’s controversial late goal, the crowd in the Matthew Harding stand surged to abuse the player and in the footage below it is painfully obvious that an as yet unnamed black steward was crushed then thrown over the pitch-side barrier by at least one Chelsea fan.

It was suggested by CFC that the steward might have slipped. As the raised arms of the man that threw him show on the clip, he did not slip, but was physically propelled. Perhaps CFC have not had an opportunity to watch the clip below.

“We are aware of an incident during yesterday’s match at Stamford Bridge in which a steward was injured. An investigation has been launched into the incident and our inquiries continue.” Metropolitan Police statement

“We are looking at reports of objects that may have been thrown or incidents around the steward taking a fall. We are investigating all the incidents around that time. My information so far is that he slipped and fell, may have hurt his knee, and was being treated by the side of the pitch. He’s been taken to hospital.” Chelsea spokesman.

    Official Chelsea Club Statement:

“CHARGES TO BE BROUGHT AGAINST BLACK STEWARD FOR ENCROACHING ON PITCH”

You can be sure they’ll throw the book at him…

The Chavs are a stain on football. I’ve just read that the two players closest to him, Mata and Mikel, heard nothing untoward from Clattenburg and neither did the other miked-up officials. So everyone who was in earshot heard nothing.

Apparantly Clattenburg decided to go over to Luis and Ramirez afterwards and racially abuse their team mates. What a crock of shite.

It’s bad enouth that once again the Chav players are lying through their teeth, but being frivolous about racism is just disgusting.

What is the penalty for that level of behaviour?

One thing I can never understand: the utter scandal of the lack of any Asian players in The Premiership. I have watched them play in their own sides in Leicester and some local Asian sides have swept other local sides away. They play with a pride and a passion which makes them a joy to watch at weekends. Whether the scarcity is due to racism or other factors I don’t know. And I am not sure about the extent, or whether there are exceptions to the rule. It just seems to me to be a criminal waste of untapped talent.

And when a club does eventually buy an asian player that is actually a talented individual, what is the instant racist reaction that a lot of people have towards it?….that they bought him just for the asian market because god forbid that an asian player could actually be any good!

I’m sick to death of racism… and i’m white so i can only imagine the shit that the black, asian, latino etc. community have to deal with. When will people realise that there are good people and dickheads in every corner of the world without exception, race has got nothing to do with it.Stamp it out of the game for good, let the Spurs fans be the catalyst for change at the games and in the pubs, don’t let the racist scum away with it!!!

Not wishing to appear argumentative for the sake of it – but:

Boy Charioteer, when you say the lack of Asians, I assume you are referring to people of Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi descent? I remember watching the Clarke Carlisle documentary “Is football racist?” where it seemed to suggest that there was in all likelihood systematic racism shown towards promising young British Asians.

Whilst Astro Spur seems more to be referencing people from “Asian markets” i.e. Japanese, Koreans, Chinese etc.?

I remember when we signed Kaz Toda well, and it was generally suggested/acknowledged that this was a loan signing to strategically boost the club’s profile in the Far East.

Certainly there didn’t seem to be any other reason to make the deal based on his playing ability. That anyone may have suggested it was that way would not neccessarily be racist, but rather acknowledged that he was a signing below standard, and commercial factors almost certainly played a part.

Speaking for myself not all signings have been viewed as such (by myself). When Park Ji-Sung signed for Man United I saw it as having dual purpose in the sense that I was of the opinon that he had sufficient talent to match his “marketability” in Asia.

One thing we can certainly agree on, is that racism is an evil and something the world can do without.

Yes, I apologise for putting it poorly. I certainly did mean the Indian sub continent. Where I live in Leicester a high portion of the population can trace it’s origins from that part of the World. We have a dazzling integration of cultures and I am proud to be part of it. However, the term “Asian” does generally refer to the Indian sub continent in Leicester and I apologise for my arrogance in assuming everyone thought the same.

        • Astro Spur says:

Regardless of wether Asian players are from the far east or of indian or pakistani origin, the point that we are all talking about remains the same, and thats the important thing!

I do think that it is a good point about Asian players though regardless of where in Asia that they are from Boy Charioteer, and as Mysterious Stranger said , the one thing we can all agree on is our hatred of racism in all its forms.

Who cares about a dirty club With no history. All I’m focused on is beating Norwich and Wigan win them 2 and we will be closer to a visit to wembley and hopefully the nou camp

  • moe says:

What will happen to Clattenberg if there is found to be the merest most tenuous suggestion that he has been verbally abusive? He`ll almost certainly be sacked.
Whereas, quoting the chav troll on Chelski`the club isn`t going to sack it`s captain and highest-paid player`.
Therein lies the problem. T***y and co know they have licence to act like complete arseholes and have a job for life.
The football authorities, however, could have taken the decision out of the chavs hands.
I wonder if they will demonstrate a change in policy if, say, a Wigan player steps out of line?
