The Man Who Put A Smile On The Face Of All Who He Met

Good morning.

Two bits of footage for you this morning. The first is of a man that many fancied to manage Tottenham when Arry was binned. Ladies and gentlefolk I give you Brendan Rodgers. A man who makes David Brent look like Albert Einstein.

Being: Liverpool episode 4 airs tomorrow night on Channel 5 but I have the full show for you clicky and at 43.21 is the bit where Brent Brendan produces 3 envelopes and tells the entire Liverpool squad and staff that each envelope contains a name. The three names are those individuals that he believes will ‘let us down this season.’

The stupefied response of the room says it all. But hey, as Brentdan profoundly states: You have to believe it, to achieve it. What a pillock. Bullet dodged? Nuclear bomb dodged, more like.

The second clip is our boy Hugo training with the French squad. Butcher’s. Dog. Fit as. The footage courtesy of 101 Great Goals.com. Good to see him baring up despite the internal goalkeeping feud at The Lane. Maybe if this football managing thing doesn’t pan out, there might be a vacancy on the Daily Mail sports desk.

Sportsmail understands Villas-Boas is planning to recall Friedel for his revenge mission against Chelsea, who sacked him last season.

Lloris pleaded with Villas-Boas to keep faith in him but looks set to be disappointed. Friedel was frustrated by the decision to axe him for the Villa game, while it is believed a clutch of Spurs players were also stunned by the choice.

Lets face it. that was more ‘reality T.V’ than real football.

Hamming it up for the cameras I think.

genius man management again from our young pretender boss. Dropping brad on sundee. The best way to deal with this situation is to not buy a goalie in the first place..too late. Lloris looks shakey, hes made more errors in 3 games than brads made for a season and a bit, hugo could be the wrong choice anyway.

    • Hot_Spur says:

Yes he’s had a couple of shaky moments but give the guy a chance. New team, new league, new country, new everything. Probably nerves, that’s understandable. Let him settle in a bit.

      • 77spur says:

thats the reason he should not have dropped brad at the weekend, clearly this guy needs time. But hes captain of his country and as champions league regular, hes arrived as a big fish, so im confused about the problems.

  • Yid Vicious says:

Against Lazio Lloris had no shots to save, against Panathaniakos he dropped 2 crosses and against Villa he threw the ball to the opposition and almost gifted them an openening goal.

Not saying the guy’s not talented but if he’s looking shaky against Panthaniakos and Villa, I don’t want him thrown into a big game against Chelsea. Especially when you’ve got a very good, experienced keeper in Friedel who can step in instead.

    • 77spur says:

right on. You got deschamps banging on about him and lloris himself expecting to be no.1 but the guy looks dodgey as fuck. Id have Brad every day of the week.

The problem AVB has now created is both keepers will now be on edge and unsure of themselves by being put under the microscope-whereas if he’d left things as they were we’d have maintained a status quo and no issue would’ve arisen unless either dropped a big ‘un?

  • Ronnie Wolman says:

I think that AVB has caused the problem re Lloris.
I cant actually remember any similar situation happening before but most of the time you spend that much on a goalkeeper its a given he will be the number one goalkeeper. If not its only right to discuss it with the player at the time of signing.
If it was discussed then thats another point>The clarification etc.
If not then you would have to think its about precedent.Does everyone have to earn their place?
    The answer is no.

Both of these goalkeepers can handle a ball but its a shame that the management couldnt handle the situation. Now its a bit of a mess.

For me Lloris is not only the future,he is the now.He looks quality and looks intent for a long successful career.
Brad had his time but can still play a strong role in some big games.

Really terrible marks for management on this issue.

    • Hot_Spur says:

You’re sounding like Jiggins. You’re also making a lot of assumptions. You have no idea what discussions have taken place.

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

How many high priced signings came into a team right after they were signed?????

        Nearly always.

        Thats an assumption????

        • Yid Vicious says:

The only one of our summer signings that started their first league game is Sigurdsson and that was because of a combination of VDV missing a lot of preseason and Sigs on great preseason form. Demebele, Ade, Dempsey and Vertonghen all had to be patient and prove themselves, why shouldn’t Lloris?

        • Hot_Spur says:

No the assumptions are your comments about the way the management have handled it and the conversations which have taken place. Reading below, you are also making assumptions about Lloris view and state of mind regarding the situation. Seems to me you are taking too much notice of media BS.

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

Sigg was signed a month before the other two
He knew the system better and fitted into the slot better (as far as being a creative attacking midfielder)
Ade never had to prove himself. He is a very different player to Defoe and not fit.
I think Vertonghen was destined to be brought quickly into the team but the back line needs to be syncronized as the high line has to work in unison

    • Yid Vicious says:

So Lloris should just walk into the team because we spent a lot of money on him? United did that with De Gea and it’s not done him any good.

Also, why should an inform player be dropped? Friedel had a blinder against Norwich and has played well since. Lloris didn’t sign for us as a favour so why should we give him special treatment? If he thinks he isn’t here to fight for a place in the team he’s sadly mistaken and he’d do well to remember that we’ve signed him for 4 years not 4 weeks, he will have plenty of chances to prove himself.

Anyway, I don’t buy into the media trying to s–t stir. AVB’s doing a fine job dealing with this so far.

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

I disagree that AVB has done a fine job on this.
There was obviously no clarity or understanding about it.

If there was then what is Lloris, psychotic??????

Most high profile players, especially one like Lloris who plays and I think is a captain of France would expect to be first choice.

Brad has played very well but has liabilities. He doesnt come out for high ball one of them.Id much prefer AVB to show confidence in Lloris to make him number one and give Brad a good respectful run of games too.

        • Yid Vicious says:

You’re just repeating yourself. Look at Lloris’ quotes, he understands AVB’s stance and resepects him and the other keepers. Seems the media have been stirring up rubbish, as usual.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

I have no idea where the reality of what they have been told or the way they feel stands.I can just see from where I see it.
I have less faith in Brad than Lloris because I know Brad has faults and the other is I dont want Lloris to leave or be upset. From what Ive seen I trust he will be one of the best and on top of that a leader on the team. (Ok its more gut that anything)
When Brad doesnt come off the line i think that he is not good even though he has made great saves.
I remember Paul Robinson also great saves but terrible with high balls.

        • essexian76 says:

Robinson’s weakness I felt was long shots that he had almost too much time to deal with-great reflex keeper, much like Gomes-but I like Brads unruffled, no nonsense, organized approach, something only experienced keepers can muster-I hope he’ll stay on as a coach, because he is a true professional in every sense of the word.

        • Ronnie Wolman says:

I agree 1000 per cent with this whole post essex

    • essexian76 says:

I actually can recall a very similar situation with Jennings and Daines in the late 70’s. In our relegation season Jennings went through a spate of injuries and Daines filled in and played well..he was the future as I recall..we went down-Jennings went to the dark side and played well for another few seasons-Daines became our No1-and for five years we had a succession of crap Daines, Alexsic,Kendall until Clem arrived..I hope history doesn’t repeat itself however!

      • Ronnie Wolman says:

        Yes this happens at times.
But you can only deal with what it is and not what it could be or could not be.Im for giving respect to Brad and to Lloris.
Id prefer Lloris plays against Chelsea though.
        Brad got the United game.

    • cincinnatiyid says:

      Clean sheets:

      Hugo 2
      Carlo 1
      Brad -0-

Surely AVB is aware of these numbers. Don’t the Portuguese use Arabic numerals?
