Oni Ne Marajo Up ’em

Sieg Heil.

Team selection for this evening leaves little to the imagination. That said I’m unconvinced that the boss will go with my line up. I’ve based my picks less on the opponents tonight and more on the ever looming tie against Manchester City. If this ‘plan’ of playing the best and the brightest of the kids needs a boost, then that’s down to manager to use his bench. My side is designed not to harm us after the full time whistle has blown. Did I already say that?

Anyone you can’t see on the board above needs to be rested. Huddlestone believe it or don’t is looking like our first choice midfield general as I type and so given his need to sit down every now and again and have a dark tea with 3 large sugars in it, he has to sit this one out.

Vertonghen is another one that can fade and I would have him on the bench at most.

Crucial that Hugo keeps his distribution away from Dawson. I don’t say this out of spite. Rather I have this thing about retaining possession. Not passing to the opposition. That sort of thing. Carrol needs to be fed so he can feed both Bale and Dempsey.

Now this isn’t a request for a game of hoof-ball, but Bale might want to consider that Dempsey is decent areal threat and swing the odd ball into him.

Falque, I’ve picked you because Azza Blud won’t survive 90 minutes on a Sunday if he does 90 on a Thursday. But also because you have great potential. However, if you take anymore of those corners that don’t rise above knee height I fully expect you to settle the invoice for a new telly which I will submit to you on Friday.

I want fluid passing with a purpose (yes I mean you Jake so look lively son). Get the ball to the creatives and give us a goal or two. Do your very best. We should win this by 2 goals.

At least those who did go supported the side, much like it be will on Sunday-when hopefully the only booing will be aimed at Mancini,Actully I’m even more hopeful of this coming fortnight becoming one of booing from the home suporters

Can’t help thinking that ‘pherbert’ could be doing us a favour…. Our recent home support have been awfully quiet this season, the reaction to this publicity seeking, sanctimonious moral crusader could kickstart the noise required to regenerate the ’12th man’ COYS

It’s a pity that we don’t play again for 3 weeks at the Lane-mind, if we get a couple of decent results and performances-I’m sure they’ll be noise-and lot’s of it COYY

The Herbert thing reminded me of one of my other favourite chants in football. The Brighton fans often respond to ‘Does your boyfriend know you’re here?’ etc by replying ‘We’re gay and we’re beating you’ (when applicable obviously). There’s not much you can say to that, and it does the same thing that ‘Yid Army’ etc does.

I personally feel proud that we have used a racial slur against some of our fans and turned it into a collective badge of honour for all of us.

Thats always been my understanding of it…

Not being Jewish or from London I’ve only ever heard it used in football.

I’m really confused because I thought that we adopted it to nullify it’s offensive intent and to support the Jewish communities in north London by embracing a hate remark.

But apparently we’re all just a bunch of racists. Who knew?

I’m interested to know if you think “Yid” is a racial slur. Can it be “turned” by us or just adopted. I have never heard a convincing argument for it being inherently derogatory. For example there is a U.S newspaper written in Yiddish called “Der Yid”. At the very least language and its meaning is organic….different through time, people and intent and so can’t be owned by anybody including racists.

Herbs’ associates, see pics on his personal website, include certain J.Jackson (jesse, not Jonny) and Al Sharpton. a quick google of those 2 will show what they think of the jewish community.
