Can You Identify These Spurs Players?

Just time for a quick parlour game before we begin to prattle in earnest on the impending European extravaganza. I don’t think that they are particularly easy but what do I know? We’ll up the ante with a token prize.

I’ll bung the winner (ie the person or spambot who gets the most correct or for that matter leaves the daftest answers) a copy of Chris Kamara’s Footynotes book.

Nice work H, any chance of a blog discussing team selection?
Been reading a lot of people calling for Crouch as a lone striker across various sites. Personally, having played for Rafa, I’d leave Crouch on the bench & go with Pav – least it’s an unknown.
Cant understand people calling for Lennon to start on the bench too?! Bale & Lennon on the wings from the off, thay’ll swamp us if there’s no threat of being caught on the break…

    My Team;

    Gnome’s

Hutton, Bassment Jax, King William III, Asswho?

    Lennon, JAnus, Thudd, Crush-a-grape, Bale

    Pavlova

I’m hoping we walk away points shared, win would be a dream !!

I’d go with Crouch as he’s learning that role as he goes and he’s not doing a bad job. Krankie in for DVD and pack, stifle and break. Bear in mind this is an Italian team, it’ll be about concentration. We can park our bus for 92 minutes and they’ll focus on that few seconds when someone opens a window.

If we can frustrate them and possibly nick one then the game will open up a bit and that’ll help us I think as long as we keep focussed. The Europeans find Crouch hard to deal with and he’ll keep two pinned at the back giving our wingers a run at their fullbacks one on one. As long as we don’t overcommit I think we can get at least a point.

What worries me is if they go at us from the off; conceding an early goal or two seems to be the story for us with scary, nail-biting recoveries…..maybe Mr. Levy has done a Hollywood deal (“Two from Eight” – the blockbuster). Trouble is if you let the Italians do that, recovery will be oh so difficult!

I’d be inclined to give Wilson a go, we need cover in front of our centre backs and maybe even pull Bale back to full-back, at least first half. We could stifle the game for 60-70 minutes and then put impact subs on to try to win it.

Im thinking much the same. Start Bale from the back but after an hour plus bring in BAE and move Bale to the wing to run at tiring fullbacks. Could be the game changer.

Interesting! Personally I dont see Bale as stronger in defence, and hes certainly not gonna start on the bench.. On current form, think you have to go with JAnus over Wilson, who has been known to give the odd penna away too.

      • Finn says:

McG, I don’t see him as weaker in defence either, but playing him there to start with at least allows us to play Wilson AND Jenas. My rationale is to kill the game and then open up in the last 10-15 (or just take a point) or have the option of putting BAE on and moving Bale forward if we go behind….this is all about points.

It took me a while but I know I’ve got this right:

Willie Hall – Jimmy Dimmock – Arthur Grimsdell – Darren Bent – Terry Medwin
