Watching the decline of Gazza is upsetting.
There is a valid argument that he’s just another spoiled ex-celeb with an desire to self destruct, but isn’t it time someone stepped in and at least tried to put an end to the miserable mess his life appears to have become?
The list of frequently manic and unbalanced examples of his mental deterioration doesn’t make for happy reading. Where once folk would greet his antics with a wry smile and a roll of the eyes, now they invoke uncomfortable silences.
From watching footage of the man, listening to audio of him and reading eye witness reports in the newspapers, this is a guy who stopped living the dream a long time ago. What we have now is a man lost in a repetitive cycle of pain and sorrow.
Some folk like to indulge their bodies with excess occasionally. Some folk get the taste for excess and never let it desert them. Others just have demons they cannot shake without help. Prison is not the answer.
It’s time to help.

he’s a sad pishhead
I read today that Gazza has been in rehab 10 times. It seems that he isn’t ready to get sober yet. People’s best efforts to help him will probably not amount to much unless Gazza wants to stop and realizes he needs help to do that.
As a Spurs fan, Gazza’s plight is genuinely heartbreaking. I wish somebody could just step in and help him out. My wife met him a few years ago, and though inebriated, he signed an autograph and gave her a hug. I don’t think I could have held my nerve. Feel free to read my recent lament for him. The boy needs help and quick.I have long felt that one morning I would wake up and hear the news telling me of the sad demise of Gazza and frankly I am amazed that he has lasted this long. He is a genuinely nice guy, a do gooder to many except it seems to himself. I think his immediate family have a lot to answer for. from what I can assertain from his book, it seems to have been a lot of take, take, take.
Very possibly the worst televsion shows of all time, a bunch of Z listers having a free holiday for five weeks. Only female chavs seemed to like it.
