The Spurs Double 61 isn’t a just a book. It’s not something you sort of read. It’s one of those rare things that come along that you look upon as confirmation you were sort of right, kind of going in the right direction after all anyway. The first football book that ever did that for me was Desmond Morris’ ‘Soccer Tribe’.
You know the book peddling drill by now, ‘lavish collector’s item’, ‘previously unseen behind-the-scenes photographs’, ‘newspaper cuttings’ and ‘match programmes’ galore… But in this instance it’s all wonderfully true.

Followed the Croatia-Norway friendly on live text. Wasn’t on TV here in New York (the only bad thing about having made the move from Oslo). Found a stream, but it was more or less unwatchable. Can’t really say much about the performances.
Charlie got a break and wasn’t in the team. Modders played a decent first half, from what I heard, and was subbed off at halftime. Haven’t heard anything to indicate any kind of injury, so I’m guessing Harry had a word with Bilic. Pletikosa played the whole match. Goal against wasn’t his fault from what I read. Krankie played the whole match, scoring the game winning goal shortly after halftime, apparently after some wonderful close control in the box before slotting into far corner.
In the Holland game Kuyt was taken off with an injury in the 29th minute. And taken to hospital. Those poor scouse bastards, it just isn’t their year. It must be karmic payback for all the stolen hubcaps.
