THAT Nani Goal Explained Very Simply…

The situation isn’t complicated.

Here’s a potted time line of is yet another nail in the coffin for those who tell us that video technology would destroy the game. These are the same people I presume who’s grandparents told us that the Titanic was unsinkable.

1.The whistle for an arguable penalty is not blown.

2.The whistle for Nani’s handball on the floor is not blown.

3.The linesman’s flag for the handball is raised.

4.Nani nips in and scores a perfectly legitimate goal.

5. On Nani’s birth certificate the box marked father’s name has the words, ‘some soldiers’, written in it.

So whilst on a morally evolved sliding scale (that ranges from plankton to human) Nani rates about the same as ‘stepping in dog poo whilst wearing new suede shoes on a very hot and sunny day’ …but the real question is what Clatternberg’s motivation was to discount the linesman.

Clatternberg is entitled to overule Nani’s handball. He is entitled to say he felt he had a clear view himself and that he saw no such offence. He is entitled to say that there are little green men living in his toupe who know all the words to ELO’s Blinded By The Light if he so chooses.

But that along with all his other ‘entitled opinions’ only serves to prove he, along with too many others are not fit/able to referee sufficiently well without assistance from someone sat in front of a TV screen with the benefit of 17 different camera angles, slo mo and rewind.

The law is an ass. And coincidence or not, it won’t sit well with Tottenham fans that this is the second comedy goal they have been made to suffer at the hands of an inadequate referee at Old Trafford.

The only reason that goal had to stand was that a 2-0 victory was needed. Why? you tell me, it is well publicised what is going on in professional sport. We have had scandals involving cricket and other sports, the only reason that goal stood was because something big was riding on it IMHO. :daumen:

    Prattle in a bit, then.

Yep, I reckon that’d hit the spot and cheer me up.

P.S. I work with a LOT of United fans and I’m currently feeling practically fucking murderous!

Winning 1 – 0 tomorrow is all we have do.

spurlative: I realise nobody wants to hear this but the sooner we’re out of the champagne league, the sooner we can concentrate on getting back into it next year. Hopefully then we’ll be more settled with less injuries.

This was mentioned in pre-season and brushed aside as a small club mentality. True Spurs fans don’t shy away from glory – who really wants to concentrate on winter away games in Bolton, etc. While the CL games have been a lot more open and exciting than I expected, our man-manager hasn’t used our depth to our advantage and we have little competition for starting places in our league games. Harry’s in way over his head as he’s only focused on a small first team of stars, and let everyone else languish. Our manager is the one who has the small club mentality, and he’s making us an also-ran instead of leading us to glory.

I hope im not being put into the group of supporters that are not true spurs fans.
I would love to see us win the champs league this year and i believe its possible.
But simply put, im not seeing enough on the pitch that fills me with the confidence that we can do it.
Perhaps ive dropped the true fan point of view and am now taking an analytical approach (its safer for my health) ;-)

Redknapps is a difficult one to figure out for me sometimes. Sometimes you think he is perfect for the club, other times he infuriates me because i dont feel like we’re going to the next level with him. But he has done so much. Maybe Pulis or Mccarthy would have done similar… who knows.

No, you’re a true blue & white army man. I’m one who agrees with you as I’m losing faith in Harry. He can rally the troops, and get Rocky off the mat to fight one more round, but our man-manager doesn’t even seem to be up to the task of managing his men. You just wonder how the team trains together – is it like the vids of the England team popping the ball back and forth, laughing, or does he teach them how to break down opposing teams so our players can be interchangeable in defense and in attack. I’m not looking at this in an NFL context, as I’ve always been a footie and hockey player/coach, but there’s a lot more to this than just telling Pav to go out and run around a bit. Our expectations are much higher now.

        Well said!
I think he relies on the the coaches a lot for that kind of thing.(if any tactical gameplan is practiced)
Harry’s just there to put an arm around a shoulder where its needed…
