Anti Stratford Protest – Pointless Wash Out

Emily Pankhurst, Bobby Sands, that chap who got run over by a tank in Tiananmen Square, the Fathers For Justice bloke in a Batman suit… and now a few dozen idiots with a badly drawn bed-sheet partially blocking a B road.

Initial reports from optimistic agitators was of some 500 people involved. One can only presume the other 476 were stuck in traffic.

The media impact was a tidal wave of inertia. The Haringey Bugle & Recorder put up a few pictures but alas, no copy.

There is an argument for staying at The Lane but it isn’t being made coherently by disingenuous creeps like David Clammy.

Too much low rent shouting and not enough thinking. Too little dealing of facts and too much division and name calling.

On the Alan Brazil breakfast this morning there was some mockney ‘I’ll tell yoo wot pal!’ cartoon character shouting that he didn’t think the move to Stratford would take place as a he didn’t think we’d want to play with a running track around the pitch’.

And then of course we have the sainted David ‘expenses” Clammy with his Rent-An-Intellectual-Property-Lawyer announcing that THFC trading as THFC outside of Haringey would constitute ‘passing off’.

Too much stupidity and too much disinformation.

We are not just going to Stratford. We are committed (1) to rebuilding and improving Crystal Palace (where I saw Bannister, the first under 4 minute miler, win the mile in front of a far short of capacity crowd and in an arena – one could not call it a stadium – of miserably inadequate facilities, even by the standards of the late 1950s.) Plus, if I am remembering correctly, we have agreed (2) to effecting other improvements. That’s hardly irresponsible, soul-less corporate selfishness.

And has anyone at WHL said that with the move Spurs will cease their current pattern of “local” activities/involvement (school visits, youth organizations’ support, etc.)

Look at what is happening to Liverpool. Even with the deeper(?) pockets of their new owners, they too are going to have to acquire a bigger capacity stadium. Ditto Chelsea. It’s the way things are moving everywhere. It’s also why a “super” European league is a certainty in the next twenty years or so, with a “super super” world league to follow. It will take over from national contests. The world cup will fade away into the background, replaced perhaps with the “Competition of the Continents,”
    etc., etc.

All of which makes my stomach turn. Though it is what a look at history indicates. The trend is always towards the larger.

Phew! Time for a tankard of the good stuff… Whatever.

Agree. We either get on board and move forward with it, depite our reservations or we spend forever challenging for the Carling Cup and the Fair Play route into the YourRopey League. Crickey that does sound like the very route Liverpool and Everton for that matter, are taking now unless thay get a very big injection of funds. As you hinted the new owners at Liverpool are NOT going to throw big money into the pot. I actually think they are fast beginning to realise what a pup they have been sold.

I don’t want to surrender to Stratford without a fight and I believe there are alternatives. I just want the facts and those have been surprisingly thin on the ground.

How much does the NDP cost (Inc. S106 & Transport)?
How much does the OS rebuild cost (Inc Crystal Pal upgrade)?
What are the extra costs between the two deals?

Not much to ask for but looking on the web I may as well be looking for the recipe for Tartan paint or Dodo stew.

P.s. can we also have someone repping support for the campaign whose campaign line doesn’t begin with “If you don’t do what we want you’re a Gooner”.

    • TMWNN says:

One without “I don’t want to move, but..” would be nice too.

    • Chrispurs says:

I totally agree, I would like the facts; in finacial terms total projection of the difference between the two. Not too much to ask!

I heard Barry Hern on TalkSport, say that the OS, is being built with the prospect of being partly demolished to a 25000 stadium (I didn’t know they could do that). Also that it is being built without any toilets, that come the Olympic games, there with be porto-loos.

Could be BS but that’s what the O’s Chairman said.

    Bent to Villa
    might lead to
    Keane to Sunderland
    Which may mean a
    new striker to the lane

    • Astromesmo says:

Knight jumps Queen, Bishop jumps Queen, Pawns jump Queen… Gangbang!

    • What kind of mind altering substance do you have that will convince Keane that Sunderland is just like London?

      • onedavemackay says:

Don’t believe all you read, especially if I am the author.

However, Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has, I believe, some sort of connection with Keano and I seem to remember mutterings of PSB joining the Mackems in the past.

        • MysteriousStranger says:

Of course it’s often wise not to take the “press” too seriously, but they were reporting this weekend that Spurs had accepted a bid for Keane from Birmingham.

Let the bidding wars begin

    • jfdit says:

keane ain’t going anywhere unless Danny Levy is willing to take it up the arse and subsidise his inflated wages at a new club.

PSB is looking for a pension deal and I think we’ll end up funding it to get rid of him

  • TMWNN says:

Some of the stuff on here today is sickening.

  • jfdit says:

this stratford/WHL issue has not been tackled by the club with any degree of convincing plausibility. It just appears to be an easier option than the original project.

The club should come clean with the fans, if the WHL project is unfeasible or unviable, put the information in the public domain confirming this. I’ve been told the required funding is not available which given the state of the banks at the moment is believable. If that is so and we have to go to stratford to move forward so be it.

    • Yachtsman says:

State of the banks at the moment!? What’s wrong with them? As usual, they seem to be doing more than OK. We bail them out, and what do they do with our money? You don’t see them rushing to dish out loans. No way!

When it comes to rushing, it’s to get their hands on the humungous, the obscene bonuses they say they have earned, all the way down to middle management. Just the same in the UK as it is in the US.

The banks are mega-national corporations; local communities count very little in their calculations, just as long term investments count just as little when it comes to projects like ours at WHL.

      End of rant.

      • jfdit says:

The banks think it’s business as usual when it comes to their bonuses but if you are ITK as I am you would know that they are (in the majority) technically insolvent despite our money bailing them out.

the chances of getting the any bank to back a risky commercial property deal in a less than salubrious part of london ranges from no fucking chance to you put up 60% and we’ll charge you 12% an annum interest plus 6% arrangement fee fair chance :ninja:

It will all implode again shortly – just wait until spain goes under

        • MysteriousStranger says:

You aren’t wrong about Spain. It’s buggered.

        • jfdit says:

my neighbour is a top guy at a certain german bank

not only spain but when they go the dominos will then fall -also italy, ireland, portugal, hungary, austria, greece and believe it or not france who’s banks have massive exposure to eastern europe

gloomy news – the irish banks are the only ones to have fessed up to their losses but their bad debts could derail the UK ecomonya

if the germans decided to stop baling the PIGS out the whole house of cards will collapse

        • Yachtsman says:

          BLIMEY!!!
