As you were.

Guillem Ballague’s a wag. Which I mean in the traditional sense, rather than in any way implying he uses skimpy designer frocks and exotic hairdoos to entice professional footballers to knob him.

A few interesting Tweets.

When Harry Redknapp talks about huge signings for Manchester City he is talking about a potential £30m offer for Gareth Bale.

And…

In the last few hours it seems Spurs favourites to land Osvaldo. But Fulham, at Madrid, Sevilla, Everton also interested amongst many others.

And…

Benzema has told Real Madrid he doesn’t want to leave the club this summer

I have time for Guillem if only for the fact that he received dogs abuse from Scousers when he was the first to break that Torres was off. Whining because you can’t cope with information tendered in good faith is for suckers.

What a load of old tosh. Silly season is upon us again. Dont let the fact get in the way of a good story. Edit the ‘quotes’ to exclude the bits where they say they want to stay and leave in bits and hash them around to ‘suggest’ all is not well there. £30-£40million is simply not going to cut it. They’ve already said it’d have to be silly money, exampling Ronaldo to Real, and even then they dont want to sell. So realistically it’d be £50m + to even consider it. The players and the manager has come out numerous times to state that they dont want to leave. According the the gutter press the following players are all gonna ‘do one’ this summer

    Bale
    Modric
    Van Der Vaart
    Pav
    Defoe
    Sandro
    Lennon
    Krancjar
    Gomes
    Crouch
    Bassong
    Corluka
    Hutton
    Huddlestone
    Walker

aswell as your Bentleys, Dos Santos etc.

Looks like we’ll be investing in a good 11 to 14 players this summer then boys!

    Bored of the bull already.

I personally don’t think that when you get to the £80k a week level that both Bale & Modders must be on, an increase to £200k would make that much difference. Yes I know it’s a difference of £120k a week, but could you even contemplate spending £80k a week? OK Wayne Bridge would probably manage with his alleged gambling habits, I’ll give you that one.

Call me naive, but surely the thing that matters is winning things and playing for the best team that you can, with a level of sustainability built in.

Looking at the two main suitors to Bale & Modders, United & City.

I would suggest that United could be on the verge of having their continual top 4 position taken away from them. Van Der Sar, Giggs, Scholes are all on the point of retirement. They need two keepers, a CB, 2 CM & possibly at least one striker. You are talking around £100m for the level of players that they require, with a keeper as No 1 priority. Could they afford the £35m – £40m it would take to get Modders? Sluralex has started buying younger players and integrating them in via the reserves & Carling Cup. They tend not to buy ready made players these days.

City can blow as much as they want on anyone, for now, until the financial fair play rules come into play. But players are unhappy there, not wanting to just sit on the bench (Bellamy, Adebayor, Sante Cruz, SWP, Adam Johnson etc). I don’t think that Bale would be happy there.

I’ve sort of convinced myself that they will both be staying, anyone else?

Don’t believe you anywhere near naive.

I hear (from the same places as everyone else, but perhaps by chaps with different names) all sorts of stuff.

Arry isn’t talking to Levy, the ‘bid’/’interest’ on Modders is true, but Modders isn’t interested…

I think City’s backers have had a taste and will essentially carry on like they are playing a computer game.

This stadium thing must be eating into Levy.

I also believe they will stay, but THFF need as ever to show some minerals. A bit of cut & thrust. Derring do.

Last minute feckjobs this window will not remotely cut it.

I doubt Utd will be finishing outside the Top 4 anytime soon. They have 4 good centrebacks, have solid if unspectacular central midfielders and more than enough quality up front (Rooney, Hern, Berba, Welbeck, Macheda, Owen, Diouf). Plus they have quality out wide.

They’ll probably sign a goalkeeper and either this year or next a playmaker such as Sneijder.

    • Bobbles says:

Your initial comforts are crazy – of course anyone who is not born and bred into their team (eg Gerrard) would exchange £8ok for £200k in a heartbeat! Also, what about the other incentive of a nice shiny bit of silverware almost guaranteed by the middle of next year?

They’ll go – but not this year because I actually believe they’re having a good time, and Spurs have genuine promise.

Another year out of Modders, maybe 2 for Bale and if there’s no progress they’re gone.

  • Yesblud says:

How will Bale’s injury affect any bid for him? He can’t command top dollar injured, surely, and DL won’t accept any less. The work they did putting players on long contracts was in anticipation of this summer, I reckon part of that was something along the lines of ‘give us another season at least’.

Stinks of the Paul gasgoigne affair to me. Couldn’t sell our best player who sigle handed dragged us to the fa cup final, only to suffer an ” horrific” injury and Irving scolar performs a miracle and gets 11 mill for a player that may never play again.???? Gareth bale takes us through the champions league group stages, earning rave reviews what happens next……. Answers on a postcard please

Do we get our pictures back if you show them or are you like those bastards with the sign language art programme that kept my crayon doodle all those years ago?

    • topspurs says:

I thought that but then remembered that Carroll went for a staggering £35m to Liverpool whilst injured. I don’t think he will go but the offers could still come.

  • TMWNN says:

Modric would be mad to stay at Spurs with cunt chops in charge.

    Pish!
