As you were.

Guillem Ballague’s a wag. Which I mean in the traditional sense, rather than in any way implying he uses skimpy designer frocks and exotic hairdoos to entice professional footballers to knob him.

A few interesting Tweets.

When Harry Redknapp talks about huge signings for Manchester City he is talking about a potential £30m offer for Gareth Bale.

And…

In the last few hours it seems Spurs favourites to land Osvaldo. But Fulham, at Madrid, Sevilla, Everton also interested amongst many others.

And…

Benzema has told Real Madrid he doesn’t want to leave the club this summer

I have time for Guillem if only for the fact that he received dogs abuse from Scousers when he was the first to break that Torres was off. Whining because you can’t cope with information tendered in good faith is for suckers.

  • I think its nailed on that Scotty Parker will be joining us…

I like that…… Mentioning Parker and nails in the same breath. Just need a hammer and the jobs a gooden

Parker was fcking relegated, Thudd, Sandro, Modders were not! what is the big deal with this guy? he wouldn’t get into our first team so would just be a squad player.

As for £30m bids for Bale, come the feck on, his image rights are worth £50m alone and eveyone who understands business would tell you the same.
Levy its time to show some balls, long contracts……

But he’s a better squad player than Jenas, Palacios, O’Hara, Livermore in CM, so I’d take him at the right price.

With no CL next season I doubt we’ll have enough games at the highest level to satisfy Parker, Modric, Sandro and Hudds. May as well stick with the latter 3 and use Jenas or Palacios. No point unsettling our three talented, young midfielders.

Anyone could go but Levy would demand top dollar for Bale (think 45 mill+) and Modders (35mill+).

Bale is injured again and has already demonstrated a penchant for the treatment room which would probably put most of them off but maybe not City. However, he has time on his side so probably is in no rush to go right now.

Modders is a different case who will be in demand but shows signs of loyalty and being a little different in temperament to the average pro. I think he is by far our most important player.

VDV will not go anywhere as I believe he was chastened by his time at Madrid and obviously enjoys being the main man here. He also is probably short of suitors amongst the bigger clubs.

Azza would be a big loss but he will only go if he perceives a step up or a barrel full of cash. So his options are limited. City and Utd probably don’t need him. The Goons wouldn’t buy him which leaves Chelsea and Liverpool as the only realistic destinations over here. Barca or Madrid ? I don’t think so. Milan, Inter maybe.

I have 40m. Do you think Levy would sell Modders to me?

I would put him on my mantlepiece beneath the Manet, right beside my first edition, signed Cather in the Rye in the Genius Room of the East wing.

When I philosophize about why I support Spurs (and why anyone supports whatever team they support), this line always comes to mind. I think it’s about as close to a good explanation as I’ve come.
