What does make a real difference to proceedings is when you encounter a footballer who doesn’t get your goat. Maybe A&E is out there spending £4M on a house and having a full blown hairdressing salon installed – at least he has the gumption to keep it under wraps – as he knows the only men who could have ever let that information fall into the public domain and lived it down were Liberace and David Coverdale (c.1987).
No, old A&E deserves our praise. In a frank interview a while back he revealed that football is just a job to him. He owns a car, but also an Oyster Card. And now we get quotes far too many players seem unable to spit out.

Here, boys and girls is a man prepared to share the previous success and the burden of the task ahead. He acknowledges he was part of the achievement and be default part of the failure to replicate it. But he wants to go on. Not bail.

Benny has had a cracker of a season, plays like he’s jusht hadt a bong & a blintz and generally makes me feel there’s hope for humanity. No BS, no badge kissing, just getting out on the park and doing his stuff. Oh and he threatened to punch a fan that was mouthing off at him… Top quality.
Long may he reign, but if he does choose to get on the happy bus to elsewhere, he’s probably one of the few players I’d wish well.

One thing I think has gone hugely unsaid about the guy is the amount of work and money he gives to charities.
He got ripped badly for his ‘I am here because I get paid a shit load’ interview, yet he gives half his money away, yet gives 150% every game.
A&E basically is one of the slim hopes of goodness in players currently in the EPL.
Honest, loyal, giving, understands his roots and acknowledges he is over paid for what he does – and then gives it to people less fortunate.

His been great all season and has nearly eradicated them what the fuck moments which were so common two season ago,and he will have to up his game again with young Danny Rose waiting for his chance
