Oh Do Shut Yer Cakehole…

Good morning?

Arry Redschnapps is a good football manager. Say what you want, make all the wobbly chops gags you like, his record speaks for itself. The 2 points from 8 games quote t-shirt is still available from the HH Schmutter Dept at a price you can afford, global delivery available.

However, whilst he’s a talented manager I’d argue his instincts for self preservation are superior to anything he’s demonstrated on a football pitch. I won’t bore you with a blow by blow account of his entire career, but old Aitch has crawled out of more exploding, flaming, twisted debris than Bruce Willis did in the entire Die Hard franchise.

The point when I really grasped what was going on was when Arry did that interview out of his car window, saying that the Chairman was keen to spend, probably keener than he was to bring in new players.

It was then I believe, that it dawned on our Arry he had inadvertently put himself well and truly on offer if things went mammary glands up. From that moment on we’ve been nurtured on a diet of ‘I dunno’s’ and ‘I wish I could tell yous.’

The reality of course that there is money to spend but much of it is tied up in deadbeats that aren’t good enough to get selected for the first team squad in a friendly. And here’s a revelation, Arry can buy – but he appears incapable of selling. No wonder he got stroppy over being branded a wheeler dealer. He can wheel with the best of ’em, but his dealing leaves much to be desired.

There’s a fine line between being a good buyer and simply being a good spender. As anyone with a girlfriend or wife can testify…

And so to these Modric comments. I have to ask, just who’s side are you on Arry? The Chairman of the club has emphatically stated that the player is not for sale. A bid has been refused without consideration. The pitiful, ‘No like chicken badge’ whining of the player has been nothing but a source of amusement.

Yet ‘Ardball Arry the business guru seems to believe it’s good idea to tell the press that the transfer to Chelsea could yet happen. He also believes that the monies generated would be useful in bringing in fresh players to boost the squad.

What a plum. The motivation for this witless revelation isn’t poor ickle Modric’s little boy lost routine in training, it is Arry – as per -thinking of himself.

Sketch 1. Flog Modders – ‘It’s not my fault, what could I do ? It was a lotta lolly, the boy wanted to go’.

Sketch 2. Arry then gets his hands on the transfer fee and I would imagine makes all too predictable megabids for people like Scotty Parker. He spends and takes a punt we can get 4th.

Sketch 3. Then when it all goes down the tube – ‘It’s not my fault, what could I do ? The Chairman says he weren’t for sale, then he sells our best player’.

Redschnapps needs to keep his head down and focus upon the task for which he is employed to do. If he’s feeling chatty, he should start ringing round his galaxy of footy mates and make a concerted effort to offload the deadbeats.

Redknapp is off his nut, but to be fair I think Levy is a nightmare too, nobody likes dealing with him and he doesnt seem prepared to spend money…even though we got 2 sponsorship deals last year and has a 30 million pound champions league run, plus season tickets are sold out.

They dont seem to talk and I couldnt care a less, I really feel with Chelsea and Arsenals decline and Man Utd not too impressive against West Brom we have a good chance of top 4 if we could keep the same team and sign just 1 striker……Adebayor before United and all will be forgotten

If you listen to all his ramblings they are always prefaced or caveated with “ifs” and “buts” BUT why doesn’t he just reign himself in and toe the flippin’ party line on it. If it happens (and I’m starting to think that it still may – cheers Harry!) then so what? Say nowt and let Levy do the deal rather than have you undermining him by mouthing off all the time.

Stories of a Levy/Harry are gathering pace and to be honest I don’t who will leave first any more: Ratboy or Harry. Moreover I don’t know who I’d want to see bugger off first any more.

Is that the Spurs womans team? Can’t see the sponsors logos, I do like the away strip…

Too right Harold! Couldnt have put it better. Come to the end of my tether with our ‘leader’ Not doing much leading apart from helping to lead Modric outta the club. Modric has changed his mind ‘about achieving thing with Spurs’ obviously because of the money, but also because of the lack of ambition. Harry is showing no ambition whatsoever apart from his own ambition to preserve his ‘reputation’ and get his feet under the Englands managers desk where he’ll be paid a wad load of cash without the hassle of day to day football. Allowing him to go to as many free games as he likes and spend more time at home with Sandra and the dogs on the beach. Thats all HIS long term goals are, and not thinking of OURS as a club.

If he, and the morons on TalkS*&t, think that a bit of patter about how selling him is the best thing is going to convince us fans that it is then he really must think we are the idiots he called us! We’ve been the ones waiting and supporting our boys, waiting to get where we’ve got to. And to see the fulcrum of that flogged off, and with it our hopes of competing, just wont wash. IF we got 30-35M what kind of standard of 4 players would you get pray tell? Henderson was 20M, a player not fit to fill Modrics boots. Its only double what we paid for him and its taken 3 YEARS for him to become the player he is for us now. People see the money we’ve got for him and the price goes up and we’d be lucky to get two above average players.

Stick to your guns Levy, the fans want ambition. And so do our best players.

why is Levy blameless in all of this? The ambition of the club is dictated by Levy more than Redknapp surely?

      • Spurfect says:

And Levys made his stand quite clearly. In both his stance on Modric and trying to build a bigger stadium to take us to the next level. Levy has done nothing but good for the club since he came here, and its in his best interests.

Redknapp on the otherhand has done nothing but undermine this stance and his chairman with these negative repetitive comments. Basically saying ‘were not good enough’ He has no allegiance to the club, as he’s stated before.

      • LLL says:

Levy has made one statement on this topic, and it was one we all wanted to hear. Harry has made about 15 thousand and none what we really wanted to hear, the latest being his most sly and treacherous yet. He is frustrated that Levy wouldn’t sanction his purchases before clearing out players and sees Modric as a quick fix to that, simple. Only, we will still have the other shit players and Levy will still be paying them. We will also have Parker who will have a resale value of nothing, very likely Joe Cole from what I’ve heard, and god only knows who else. That isn’t what I call ambition, that’s what I call fucking about.

  • devonshirespur says:

Agreed he needs to control his motor-mouth. He is clearly trying to play the nice cop, understanding Modric and keeping friends with him, while Levy is the bad cop and thats the right thing to do to get the best out of Mods if he stays.

BUT what Harry did say yesterday was:

“We’ve got two options with Luka. Either we keep a fantastic player or we sell him, get the money and bring in four players and have a better team.
“I want him to stay but if he’s going I want the opportunity to get other players in.”

So if it is all down to Levy and if, say, £40m would tempt Levy to sell then it is right that we have time to spend that dosh.

What Harry has done all along is point at Levy not wanting to sell without necessarily putting himself 100% behind that decision. He’s always used language like “we’d like to keep hold of him…we want to try and keep our best players” etc Its all a bit no commital.

If HR is softening in his approach perhaps this reflects a softening of Levy’s stance?

13 days of the bullshit left!
