Rasping Ratings & Raspberries

Hola,

Player ratings and after sleeping on it, I’m no more cheery about the tactics both on the pitch and off it. I understand it was ‘only’ the first game, but our team was more rested than United’s and with the exception of Modric we weren’t missing anyone we needed to do a better job.

The blunt reality is that for an hour or so the game could have gone either way, as bwin betting suggested. Then they scored and and we collapsed. The collapse came in the shape of poor tactics and an inability to concentrate. They scented blood.

But instead of doing the best with what we had, the pot shot tactics that had failed were repeated again and again. They tasted blood with the second goal and Rooney in particular was becoming visibly tetchy he hadn’t scored.

The net result of our dual substitutions was zip. The net result of Sluralix’s substitutions was to provide a more sophisticated foil for Wazza. Giggs was on a matter of minutes before he did what he was told to do.

I refuse to buy anything the Arry apologists are selling. That team, with those tactics last night wouldn’t have put 5 past Hearts. Our tactics were poor. So poor I struggled to work out what, beyond VdV taking pot shots, they actually were.

Friedel -Brad. Dammit Janet! He must be good, he conceded three and still Gomes’ days are sadly unnumbered rather than numbered. If Arry had given him a number it might at least given him some idea of when this humiliation might end.

Walker -We appear to have an ongoing pattern of players who get a bit Tom & Dick. Is this girly nerves, or are they simply not washing their hands after they have been to the toilet?

Dawson – Particularly unawesome this evening. I saw no Captain.

Kaboul – MOTM for the first have and ran out of steam in the second. He was steamless. We are paying these guys too much for them to buckle after an hour.

BAE – Assued stuff in the main. Was he told not to make any runs up field? Ah so that’ll answer that one then.

Lennon – Frail, vulnerable. Like a new born chick he pecked about a bit but largely he fell over and missed the security of his shell. We should sell him …to Venkys.

Kranjcar – It wasn’t Heart you see and under real pressure his touch was less sublime. That said, he was good. He’s a great player. Worth keepin and worth our respect.

Livermore – Ran his heart out and this was largely as he was doing most of our defending on his own. To that note he was a little out of his depth. He’s good stuff, but this was the deep end.

Van der Vaart – Great to see him all lithe and energetic, but less great to see such wasteful play, de Gea is a bit of  a wobbler – but all bar one of his shots at him were actually useless. Was this dumb greed or was he instructed?

Bale – Took a while to get into things and then decided he didn’t fancy it all that much after all. Which was a pity, we could have used him. It was big game.

Defoe – Looked right up for it. Like a dog chasing for scraps. Had his shot that hit the post gone in people wouldn’t be cursing him. Again.

Corluka – He calls his slow cooker ‘the microwave’.

Huddlestone – An abysmal contribution from a Sub. This was Old Trafford and we were lagging. Utterly abysmal.

Don’t see why you would be so positive about Crank after that performance. Yes, the guy is a good player, but last night he gave it away repeatedly. Where’s the touch on his passes? Looked like Jenas with no pace. He’s got a shot but not like we got to see it.

I agree about the pot shot strategy but it wasn’t just VdV. Defoe blasted it numerous times from about 22 yards with the same result (usually with space to move forward). Lots of selfish play last night.

We should have been one up when they scored. All Lennon had to do was pass the flippin’ ball to Van der Vaart for a sure goal. What the hell was that play? Lennon was truly shit last night and may have lost the game for us. Who knows what happens if we score that goal. There’s no excuse. Pass the fucking ball.

We had chances. I’m not going to criticise the subs since they were the exact two players I wanted. But it didn’t do anything, that’s for sure. Pav is useless, even though he will score a goal now and again (but not when we need one). I am a fan of Tom but too little, too late last night. Is he fit or not?

Would we have been better off with Diarra in place of LIvermore, and Adebayor in place of Defoe? Uhh…yeah. Only about ten times better off.

Anyone think Manure won’t win the league?

  • Spurchrisd says:

Never really had a hope with an unadventurous central midfield. Diarra badly needed before Citeh arrive in town.
Modric is an utter cock, he’s let us down badly.

how can you blame rednap? its not him who organises the team, its not his fault we lose in penalty shoot outs cos we dont do penalties in training y would u wanna do that? its not Harry that calls fans idiots, tells reporters to f*** ooff, tells the media that darren bent ( who wasn’t quite the ticket, but is the countries top english goal scorer in recent times ..that hos wife could finish better, this from a god forbid future england manager) its not his fault levy gave him money to sign defoe chimbonda and r keane, modric knows the reality of the situation and completely understand y he would put his head phones on during team tactics… rednapp always has been is and lways will be a 1st class bull sh**** self serving twat…how many have won in our last 12 prem games? spurs first…crooked one trick pony little hitlers last!!!!! ccccooyyyfffsss

    • Eleth_bay says:

LOL…… gona be a hard season… we just don’t have the quality both in the team and the coaching staff……

    • Stu Barney says:

I can’t make out if you are a fan of Redschnapps or not then Spurssince82!!

Great post, I know the Harry lovers do not understand us, but I really do not understand them…perhaps they enjoy mediocrity?

My head is bloody toying with the idea of bringing Berbatov back if they sold him…..desperate times indeed.

    • LosLorenzo says:

Told a reporter to “f*ck off”?!? Oh no, that’s terrible.

And that Bent thing Was embarrassing. For Mr Bent. Harry wasn’t making a general point. ANYBODY could have scored the chance in question (including Sandra R). If you are going to be a professional, you need to be man enough to not start whining like a baby when somebody points out that you did something that was, frankly, sh*t. Harry was making a joke, FFS.

Bent can do one. Sure, he scores some ugly goals for AV. He was not, nor will he ever be the answer to our strikrr problems. Got good money for him, and glad he is somebody rose’s problem.

      • LosLorenzo says:

        “somebody rose’s problem”????

Was meant to be “else’s,” but my iPhone used some artistic license in the editing phase.

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

Yes sometimes these players can be so precious: Who remembers N’Zogbia demanding a transfer because Joe Kinnear referred to him as “Insomnia”

  • Tony says:

ANYWAY! We ALWAYS lose there, so ZERO points dropped. Get over it guys. We will unleash hell on City.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

I was at Bolton on Sunday. I don’t share your optimism

    • DYiddy says:

And when you come down from ‘Spurs in Hollywood’ Blockbuster (or pills with pretty pictures on), your welcome back here to make further comments.. :)

    • Tony says:

Christ. You doom and gloom merchants. People said these things to me when we finished 4th and 5th in consecutive seasons. I was right then…and Spurs will finish top 5 again this year, so I am not at all concerned. One game against a team that we never beat, at a ground where we always lose… Come on guys.

      • DYiddy says:

5th, you may as well finish 12th..?!?

        • Stu Barney says:

I appreciate optimism, I really do, christ I was even believing we could come back when 2-0 down…..but why would any Spurs fan think 5th place is good enough?

We have got to aim higher, surely Tony?

        • LosLorenzo says:

Actually, we finished around 12th for a decade until BMJ took over. Since then we have been in Europe for all but one season.

Speaking as somebody who remembers what it was like to NOT finish fourth, I would say there is a pretty big difference, yeah.

        • LosLorenzo says:

I meant “NOT finish fifth”. Or European places in general.

      • DYiddy says:

I appreciate your positivity, but was pretty poor. 3-0 to a team sheet that was in general (on paper).. Think its the lack of belief from payers, never a plan B and concern that Arry has taken us as far as we can go with current ground revenue. 12 months ago promised so muchand bar two or three wonderful nights in the CL we didn’t capitalise – that my real frustration… Also sick of hearing about ‘nearly signings’ – Arry at it agin last 24hrs in press… Maybe if he kept his mouth shut, I would have less ammuunition to lob back!

      • Eleth_bay says:

have you ever heard of “Turning the corner” or should for the rest of eternity expect to lose to United!!!!

        • Andy Spud says:

We should of fecked them up last season already, but no, we settled for a point and Arry for a glass of wine with Rednose after the game. FFS, I hate Man Utd and all their fanboys!

        Tony

Save your positive breath mate; it doesnt cut any ice on here fella

Just stick with the likes of ODM, me and Unkle Kev. We dont do ‘knee jerk’

Apologies to any bloggers who havent been listed; its tricky to find them recently amongst all the doomongers and HRH’

        • Stu Barney says:

Hold on….the old brain cells are waking up! Is it any wonder we struggle against the top 4 sides when we hear Redschnapps postively drooling over these sides, bigging up their “top, top players”. If he does that in the media, there is a good chance he will do it on the training ground thus instilling a losing mentality to our players (and then having our own “top, top players wanting to leave”. The man is his own worst enemy to be fair.

  • onedavemackay says:

with the exception of Modric we weren’t missing anyone we needed to do a better job.

Well a fit Thudd, Ledley and Sandro might have also made a difference.

Kabul was nowhere for two of the goals and all three were a bit soft. I like Kabul’s attitude and I think Niko has talent but it’s questionable whether either are good enough and we have too many players like them.

MOTD may keep saying we have a strong squad but the reality is that our squad contains a lot of nearly men,ok for the odd game against the mid table teams but not good enough to compete with the top teams.
